BootMii/IOS or BootMii/Boot2? Priiloader? What did you do exactly to arrive in this situation?

if you had bootmii before you can flash it back into the nand with a nand programmer.
If you have a gc controller, you can run savemiifrii to get the recovery mode, then use the Speed Demon Data Management Method to fix your wii using software. You need a modchip to do this:
New Unbricking Method For (Bannerbricks) 4.1v Wii's and below - GBAtemp.net
Unless you have some save exploit or priiloader installed, this is your only option. Once again if you could supply more info that would help us help you.

updates and bricking
Estimated at 1 in 1000 failing. Could be internet connectivity issues? if you read that article, the boot2 update code is pretty crap.
I've read about the 4.2 update bricking unmodded wiis even, but it would have to be a very rare occurance for it to happen. Anyway there are stickies on NAND reprogramming, paul1222, here:

I'm more of a software guy, If you need help in this process I suggest getting help from Bad_Ad or Erikie.

I've personally had that happen (4.2 update fail and brick the Wii), fortunately I have the tools to fix it. Wouldn't be able to begin predicting how often it happens tho. Just know that it can/does.
