I don't think updating fixes theme/banner bricks, does it?

I don't typically suggest things unless I am sure of the outcome. Why wouldn't updating fix a theme brick? And if updating did not fix it, what exactly would?

Redarrow, you are giving advise (which is great), but you don't even know what the solution is or fully understand the problem. This poor sap just wasted his money on a modchip and it was not necessary, that is sad and a FAIL for the OP and yourself.

Anyway, there are other fixes for banner/theme bricks. He can use The Nintendo Backup disc, since he's only on 3.4. He could also use The Speed Demon Data Management Method, or if he had trucha patch, he could use a AnyTitleDeleter Disc.

@Maui, are you trying to imply something about me?

@steve131313, The Nintendo Backup Disc should work for your situation, however it does delete a lot of stuff, so if you don't want that, you could also try this:

Careful, careful RedArrow... I will not let this thread degenerate, nor would you remain unscathed by the experience.

This is not a banner brick

OK, he loads the Nintendo Backup Disk, then what? How is this to help?

He could also use The Speed Demon Data Management Method

Perhaps he could use this method, assuming he does, he SDDm into data management- then what, what should he do?

or if he had trucha patch, he could use a AnyTitleDeleter Disc.

What would you have him delete? His theme?(SM3.4)

@Maui, are you trying to imply something about me?

I think you are confused about many things. You have good intentions, but I don't think you understand the details of the methods you quote.

This is a failed theme brick, which is a customized system menu. This can be fixed by reinstalling the system ios and system menu, or upgrading to a new system ios and system menu. In the OP's case, he could update from disk to 4.0, 4.1, or 4.2 via savemiifrii recovery menu. This would only require a gc-controller and a retail disk with the needed update, about $10- no modchip required.

Thanks, I do sort of see it your way, but I thought Theme/Banner bricks were nearly the same thing. Anyway I guess If your updating method is right, I'm not needed here anymore.

Eh, What can I say? We all make mistakes, but it's not a complete loss, he could sell the modchip for a considerable amount if need be.

Ok, for one thing, I havent ordered a mod chip yet, was waiting for money to clear. Ok are you saying that all I have to do is mod my gamecube controller so I can get it to push (up-down-left-right) all at the sametime and the the savemii or whatever it is called will come up? If I have to load the recovery 1.31v disk, thats fine. I have all the new files to hack it better than I had it before. I dont care what I lose on there, even though my 4yr old daughter and I beat the mario game and had it saved on there. lol
