    Us WiiKey Semi-Bricked Accidentally, Help?

So I have a WiiKey on a JAP console. I wanted to play MH3 online (in america) with my friends and it updated my Wii and I wasn't smart enough to stop the update. So now when I goto setting it tells me it cannot find the JP.index file it needs (opera error). I can still play both JAP and my NTSC MH3 game which is weird.

    Things I have Tried:

-Using Tales of Grace (JAP) to override the update.
    -Installing 1.9s Firmware for WiiKey
    -Installing the 1.9s Config file.

They haven't worked and I have not got any farther. Is there anyway to fix this without soft-modding?

Thanks a ton for the help in advance.

Moved to Wii Bricked Sections (might want to check out the stickies on this, I know there's one here on the Opera/out of region update).

Thanks for the move, I debated awhile which one was appropriate but I guess I picked wrong. The sticky I see refers a lot to 4.1 and was wondering if there was a new work around besides soft-modding with 4.2.

It's not "wrong," but rather "more helpful." Mauifrog, our resident guru on bricks of all kinds routinely inhabits this thread in the evening. Your choice of section was technically no more wrong or right than this section. But this section gets routine attention on a daily basis whereas the other section does not. So in essence this will speed up assistance to you.

Oh, thanks even more then. The only problem if it comes to using Mauifrog's guide is that he does not have 4.2j-v480 which is the one I would need. Also thinking things through some more I figured I had better scrub MH3 (NTSC) to make sure its 4.2 and not 4.1 unless someone knows off the top of their head what it has.

It's probably 4.1 not 4.2 (I bow to all things mauifrog --- he knows 100x what most users do on bricks; Teal'C is another, but less frequent). Don't PM either, mauifrog will see your thread (time permitting and being a "creature of habit.")

Assuming you have a semi-bricked JAP wii on 4.x

    Backup and format your sd-card

    Extract Dop-Mii_v12_CB2_BB2.zip to sd:\
Click on the sd icon from the channel menu
    Load the boot.dol, dop-mii starts
Install ios36 with fakesign, apply all patches, install from NUS
    Select ios36, press A
    Select System Menu
Select to install 4.2J system menu
    Install ios70 with all patches
    Install system menu 4.2J
    Install from NUS
    Fixed

You may wish to install priiloader to prevent this from happening in the future.

If your wii is offline, install from SD
    extract these to sd:\
    IOS15-64-v257.wad
    IOS15-64-v523.wad
    IOS36-64-v3351.zip
    IOS70-64-v6687.zip
    4.2j-System Menu-NUS-v480.zip

If my Wii is offline (since I never set-up the network connection), do I need to put those files on before or after I do the top steps? Sorry if that is a silly question, I just want to be cautious.

    P.S: Could I burn them to a DVD+R?

Yes put all the wads on sd:\ before doing the method. Then install from SD.

Why would you wan't to put them on a dvd? I don't think you can.

I was hoping to use a DVD because I did not have a SD but I bought one anyway and it all worked so thanks a ton. The IOS70 did not work but I found another one online. Thanks again.

/sigh, Spoke to soon. I can play JAP games, and JAP games online. I can no longer play US games much the less online. When I goto start the disc it just gives me the disc read error. No longer a brick issue so I'll look around here and see if I can find something unless you happen to have something up your sleeve.
