    HELP Wii wont power on

    Hello all,

Ive got a Wii which will not now power on. Ive had it for a couple of years now, which ive put in a modchip about over a year ago. The wii has been working fine and ive been playing back up games with out any problems until last week! When the wii is all plugged in, the power (red) light comes on like its got power but when i push the power button it just does nothing and the light goes out... i cant then do anything no other buttons work.. i have to take the power cable out and put it back in to get the power light to come back on.

Ive took the modchip out now just incase that was causing the problem but its still doing the same.

Ive unplugged it for a whole day and tried again but that doesnt work.

Ive used my brothers power adapter to see if that was the problem but that still does the same thing.

Can anyone please help im not sure what else i can do??

    Cheers
    Lee

What was the last thing it did before it stopped working? If there were no major changes software wise then my money is on a hardware issue. I'm moving this to the bricked wii section by the way.

Thanks for replying and moving the thread

nothing really unusal just put in a new game which played fine but then the next time when i turned it on, it wouldnt and it wont eject the disc.

Im just wondering though i did softmod the wii aswell about a month ago because i want to use a usb loader instead of discs because my brothers got one and its brilliant. I was going to just get rid of the mod chip and then get a HDD but havent got the money yet to buy one which i was going to get it in my next pay packet so i just used the modchip for now. Do you think that could of had anything to do with it? although i have been playing on it after i softmodded it and it worked fine..

Even if you accepted an update from an out of region game it would only result in a semi brick. I'm still thinking it's a hardware issue from what you described.

im in staffordshire, uk and do wii repairs/debricks on ebay.

it sounds like a short, ive seen the same issue with bent pins on the dvd drive power connector.

try powering up with wii without the dvd drive connected at all.
