    Is this a low-level brick?

GO TO POST 5 FOR UPDATED INFO.

So i have purchased 2 faulty Wiis on ebay, i am awaiting delivery to confirm the errors they have but this is what the seller described.

"both will power up to standby, but when you turn them on they flash blue [dvd light, presumabley] then turn off completely (no lights)"

From what i have been reading on this forum, it sounds like a low-level brick? or could it be soethign else?. I don't have any history on either of the consoles unfortunately.

I'm hoping that if they are low-level bricked, that they are the older ones where i can use the above tutorial.

That description could mean a few different things. If the power led is coming on and going out then the Wii is unlikely to be repaireable. If the DVD slot light comes on and goes out then that's perfectly normal.

I would suggest waiting for them to arrive and see what they are actually doing.

However you must be prepared for the fact that they may not be recoverable, even using an Infectus and other methods.
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.

Well as long as it turns on with power led you should be OK. Always ask for a serial number to see if the wiis are indeed older types

Yeah, i should have asked lol. Well i have managed to source a Infectus2 for 35 GBP, which is cheaper than everywhere else i have seen. - I'll pick one of these up, and if its no good for thw Wiis then ill save it for the xbox.

Not looking forward to installing though, if its my only (if any) option. Cheers again

Wiis took ages to come, but i have them now.

    Symtoms:
Power + aux plugged into console. Red standby light works and stays on, once power button is pressed is flashes to (what i can make out) a yellow colour, as well as the light bar flashing for a fraction of a second, then the whole console turns off and needs to be unplugged to get back to standby red.

    Serial numbers:
LEH14645532 0 (looks unopened) (has "4.2 G 2700p" written on the sticker in marker pen, which i guess means wii dashboard 4.2 and 2700 shopping points on it)
    LEH11386304 2 (deffo been opened)

I do have an infectius 2 chip now as well, so i can use that if needed. What do you guys think this is?

Note: I have no nand backup, just the consoles.

    Thanks

yay, thanks erikie, i'm glad thhey are old enough to do it on.

Reading through the tutorial, thers one bit which catches my eye: "Compare the results of these blocks in a hex editor with other dumps from working Wiis with bootmii installed to see if you have one that matches the boot1 block."

Assuming i have no other wii with bootmii installed, where can i get a dump from a working wii?
Cheeers erikie, your my hero already haha

Than you have a problem. Only start with an infectus if you have the proper things at hand. You need to find the first 8 blocks of a nand with bootmii installed.
Also you need to have the same or higher version of boot2 in the 'donor blocks' otherwise it will not work too...
