does the drive light still flashes blue? It could be you just blew a fuse at the bottom of the board. There are a lot over there.
Check for FILxx type components. There a bit bigger then the SMD components and are black.

did you remove all the cables from the wii mainboard? Including the drive cables?
Also did you unplug your power supply from the wall socket for about 15 mins?
If you have a multimeter you can see if there is power on the mainboard:
Check the 12V incoming on it first
then see if you have 3.3V on the testpoint, 1.8V on the testpoint.
These are at the bottom side of the board.

Would a mobo boot up and give a power led to the front panel (red, amber, green) without a drive being plugged in. I'm trying to to rule out all possible scenerios for failure. Should I be able to get the power LED on front of the Wii, no matter whether I have a drive plugged in to it or not. Bassically, breadboarding the mobo to soo if a power signal comes through. If the mobo lights up the Wii power button (red, amber, green) without a drive plugged in with the white "ribbon" cable, I should be able to test it's funcionalitiy without the use of the DVD module. I have tested the continuity of almost all of the FILxx fuses on the mobo (40 at least), but if there are other fuses that I'm not aware of, all of your inputs have greatly helped me, and in doing so I may be able to help someone sown the road with similar problems.

Sure it will, when I unbrick I have nothing attached to the board, no wifi no bluetooth no dvd. ALso check out the 5v supply with ground. (testpoint 124). Have a look at the attached image for the proper spot. Had a similar short yesterday and then there are no lights too.
I made a short while hooking up an infectus. Unbricked another wii in 45 mins

    Continued...

Here is what I checked. The 12v Fuse seems to be putting out 11.5 or 12. as far as the rest of the test points you had me check, 5v, 3.3v, 1.8v,are reading 0. And I'm acually having trouble believing that the TP I checked was the 1.8v. Some are labeled, some are not. Either way, this leads me to believe (iin my "not so adeptable knowledge") that my problem maybe closer to the 12v power source than anything else. But I tell you that my multimeter read zippo then I checked all of the ofther voltages. I even made sure that my cpu wasn't getting warm so that I would have to stop all this completely. But that just goes to show you how much I really know. And to be honest with you, I would just buy another board and say to heck with it, but I don't think there are to many LU52 models available anymore. I just think I'm overlokking something. There has to be a simple solution to this. There was absolutly no oder to it even when it happened) to suggest a fried component. But out of everywhere I've contacted for someone to look at it, they won't case that has been opened. I told them my warranty was up to years ago. Do you have anything at all that you could suggest after what I told you about the 5v, 3.3, and the 1.8v? It seems be a problem happening before the the power has even been dispersed through the board. Thanks so much. Everyone included as well. You guys are awesome!.

Go check the fuses at the bottom of the board where the 12V comes in. Could be that one of them is broken. Also check the top side of the board, there is a black component right after the plug (it is a coil) check the voltage or check for continuity.

Is the coil supposed to carry a 12v. current? If it's not, that's the problem. As a matter of fact, with it plugged in, it carries no voltage, much less a 12v. Could this be my problem, that I blew the coil?

The coil right after the 12 v just filters the current. It should be 0 ohm if you measure it with resistance meter or continuity meter.

Well I should have mentioned that in my previous post that it does have 0 ohms. I just thought that it would also carry a current with the wii plugged in as well. Like I say, I'm really no electronics expert, however I have some skills. I can't thank you enough for all of your replies. All of your suggestions have ruled out a lot of very likely issues. It's very cool of you to respond to my queries in such a timely manner as you have. Especially for someone you do not know very well. Thanks erikie. That's pretty cool of you.
