Question Sorry, another bricked Wii thread... Semi/Full Brick, Drivekey mod, 4.1 USA.

OK, I'll be short and sweet so hopefully I can get the info I need.

I have a hard-modded Wii with Drivekey. My Wii is 4.1 USA. Got NSMB PAL and did the Nintendo disc update, semi-bricked my Wii knocking out my settings menu. Game dies every 5 minutes after start so I tried installing HBC to get Neogamma on my system. Used the wrong Bannerbomb and now fully bricked my Wii (blank screen on start-up). I do not have my NAND copy or boot2 or any other life-saving program installed.

Got my system into recovery mode using a DDR mat (best thing I've done so far). Tried booting UUDv4 and UUDv2, no success. Find out Drivekey needs to be configured to autoboot on a clean Wii. Here are my questions:

    1. Is it easy to configure Drivekey to autoboot on a clean Wii?

    2. Considering I semi and fully bricked my Wii what is the best approach for me to restore my system once I can launch a boot disc?

    3. If I can restore my system is Drivekey upgradeable to play NSMB or do I need to buy another modchip?

Thanks guys, this forum is amazing for all the info I've found in the past few days...

The simplest solution would be to configure your chip to autoboot on another wii. The update to 4.2u from disk, endless ocean 2 will probably have this update on it.

You should clarify what exactly you did. Using the wrong bannerbomb would only fail, and since you are on 4.1, there is no wrong bannerbomb, v1 and v2 work very well and would not likely brick your wii. So what exactly did you do, step by step that lead to this brick? Did you follow a guide? Also what system menu version is displayed in recovery menu via savemiifrii?

I was following the Bannerbomb tutorial on the wiki wii site, forgot the URL. Because I couldn't see my system version number I picked the v2 install method. Once I put the v2 files on the sd card I put the hbc files also on the card (honestly can't remember where I got those files but i think it was a link off the homebrew main site).

Following the v2 install I placed the sd card in the unit after I pressed the sd icon on the menu. Screen went all weird, black with matrix like lines. I kept the system running for at least 5 minutes and figured it didn't work so I went to try again with another file. When I powered off the system it never came back on. The guy who modded my wii was surprised too that I screwed my system up.

    Savemiifii shows: 4.1(USA)

I dunno where I'll find someone brave enough to borrow their Wii out here to configure my chip. I'll probably buy the Drivekey with NSMB update and autoboot on from canadamods.com, if I can update my original drivekey later on I'll sell it.

Given how I described my bricking is there any way without waiting for a game update to 4.2 to save my system with an autobooting drivekey?

Can you power on the wii with the wiimote? Red light to green light?

It is very possible that your bluetooth module has gone bad. From your description, you did not do anything that would result in a brick (unless you are missing some details). A bluetooth module cost about $10.

    - Try to remove and reseat the bluetooth module, see it that helps
    or
    - Try to replace the bluetooth module.

Would a bad bluetooth module cause a black screen on start up?
