    my first post

I have been searching these forums all day and havent found a solution or accurate diagnosis.
I had a softmoded wii on version 3.2. I decided to update to v4.0 so i can use the SD menu. After using waninokos v4.0 installer the wii now boots to a black screen. I can power on with the wiimote, and i hear the DVD drive spin up and check the disk, but then the system doesnt power off normally (have to hold down the power for several seconds), and the wiimote never actually syncs.
The install appeared to go ok, no errors. I have tried the SaveMiiFrii and I am just left with a black screen. I know i am performing it correctly as i got it to work on my other Wii.
So i guess what i am asking is, is there anything i can do to revive this wii? I do have another system with a wiikey installed if this could be of any use.
    Many thanks in advance

Just to make sure... What makes you think your wii is bricked? (You also didn't post this in the introductions section. I'll include what you would have recieved there at the end of this post.) Please give some more details on what your wii does when you power on and any issues you're having.

Welcome to the community! Members of the community are extremely helpful, and there is information throughout the site on just about every issue you could imagine. Make sure you read ShadowSonic2's Wiihacks Ultimate Index. Here are a few things to help you get going:

    1) Read the Rules of the site. They are important and there are consequences to ignoring the rules, not that you would do anything like that.

    2) Read the Tutorials and Guides.

    3) SEARCH for questions you may have before starting a new thread. If you would like to narrow your search, choose the option on the search page that says "Search Titles Only."

    4) The advice on this site is all free, but it does cost money to operate. If you're able it would be greatly appreciated if you DONATE.

It is NOT advised that you update to system menu 4.2 at the moment. Although it can still be modded, it's only reason for existing was to eliminate the homebrew channel.

If you have not softmodded yet, there's an excellent guide by dogeggs for system menu 3.1-4.1 FOUND HERE

And a wonderful guide by messie for system menu 4.2 FOUND HERE

Any other problems can usually easily be found by searching.

AND FINALLY... Love is in the air here at Wiihacks.com, and if you're able to convey your love for this site better than anyone else you could WIN A WODE! (Wii Optical Drive Emulator.) Find out more details on this exciting contest HERE...

Again, welcome to the wiihacks community. We hope you enjoy your stay!

Fair enough. What is your wii doing that makes you think it's bricked?

So, before I move this to the bricked section, when you power on you get nothing but a black screen and can't even get to the wii menu? If this is the case:

Hold reset when you power on, this will bring up preloader if you have it.

When you power on (without any discs in the drive) does the disc light flash twice quickly? (this means you have bootmii as boot2)

    Didnt follow any guides, no.
I had upgraded the other chipped system in the past with ease so thought nothing of updating the other, especially as it already had the HBC and USB loaders installed.

What about this? What happens when you power on? Do you have preloader or bootmii as boot2?

I never get to the wii menu, just a black screen.
I never installed a pre-loader or bootmii on the machine, did try both the techniques you mentioned above just incase but neither did anything.

    Thanks
