Us Took on a challenge need help...

    Hi all,
This is my first post so please bear with me and be kind. Basicly, I just got a newer Wii off ebay that is working fine, but has been softmoded and no longer works. I know that most ppl prob think it was dumb to get, however it was only 40 pounds and is good for me to try and fix and open up before I do anything with my wii. Anyway, so this is where the broken wii is at:

It comes up with a Black screen which reads ''The System Files are Corrupt. Please refer to the Wii User Manual for help Troubleshooting''

So this is where the knowledge base and help from all of you comes in.....I hope.

SO what should I look for, try to do, and start off with?
Where do I begin and what tools do you recommend?
I see this as a challenge and I'm hoping you can all help me recover this or have some good ideas on how to bring this wii back from the darkside.

Anyway, thank you very much in advance and please understand I am new and I will do my very best to keep up and understand.

Hold in reset while powering on the wii and see if preloader comes up. If preloader comes up, then it can be fixed. Another thing you can do is when you turn on the wii, you should get a blue long flash from the drive which is normal. See if you get 2 quick flashes after that. If so, then you have bootmii installed which is installed as boot2. I am not sure though if bootmii would be much help if there is no nand backup ran for it.
If I have helped you in any way, please thank me by pressing the little thanks button.

There is a solution if there's boot2 but no nand backup... I'm moving this to the bricked section of the forum.

If you hook up a Gamecube controller in port 1 you can use that to navigate the preloader menu

Preloader doesn't work with System Menu 3.4 which you have installed on the Wii. Preloader actually corrupts the System Menu file as it was never designed to run on 3.4.

Simple solution. Use preloader to Launch Homebrew Channel and then run Wad manager and install..

    IOS50 v4889 IOS50-64-v4889.wad

    followed by..

    System Menu v386 SystemMenu3.4PAL-v386.wad

    Your menu will now work.

Then upgrade to 4.1 Firmware http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...l-working.html and Install Priiloader http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...4-2u-4-2e.html, which will work.

Sorted. A Working Wii for £40.
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.

Do I still need a GC controler? If so what kind should I get as I have heard that the real GC controlers don't work.
Also On my SD card is there a place that one or both files need to go in? Or can they go in the root dir?
