D3-2 Drive Banner Bricked, Need Mod Chip?

I purchased a bricked Wii and want to repair it. The system freezes at the Health & Safety screen. Unfortunately, the drive is D3-2, so will this modchip allow me to unbrick it?
    Canadamods.ca - Official Distributor of Wiikey, WiiKey 2, D2PRO 9, Wii-Clip, Wasabi V3, WiiZard, D2SUN, D2CKEY and more - Sundriver Wii Sata-Hdd Loader Modchip + Triwing & Phillips screwdriver - Connects via USB

    Specs:

    D3-2
    4.1 USA
    No Homebrew, No recovery software

My other question is can the Sundriver attach to other drives that aren't D3-2? I plan to use the same modchip to unbrick any future Wiis with the same freezing screen.

That one won't boot a recovery ISO from an SD Card on D3-2, right?

I'm revising my question: I was just notified that I could swap out the drive with an older model to use an autoboot disc with Infectus. Is that the best way to fix the brick?

Unless the prior user patched the system ios with the trucha bug, you will not be able to use any autoboot recovery disks. You will be able to autoboot many games, if Indian PWNS was installed to the wii, you could use Lego Indiana Jones to load apps.

The only other way is to use many many gamesaves, channel installs, DLC to fill the nand and force your way into data management, if data management still functions.

Your Please Donate hyperlink redirects to a smilies page. I found two Wiis that produced videos and didn't sync remotes, so I took one apart and replaced the bluetooth module three times figuring that was the issue. I guess the first Wii and maybe the second is a full brick, but the GameCube controller tweak didn't work to produce the system menu version like on the one that bricked at the Health & Safety screen. I ordered three Wasabi Dx chips from Canada Mods in case I break two of them. I plan to install one on a working Wii first to update it and enable autoboot. Then I'll use some of the Wii games that to create save files to fill the system memory completely. I'll report back once I do that, but I still don't know the system menu on these Wiis.

Best thing for you to do is to autoboot WiiFit (or Wii Fit plus) and when it asks if the time is correct, say no... it'll take you to the settings menu, and then you can reformat the thing. As you didn't have any homebrew installed, it should be fine.

None exists. You can use WODE or Sundriver though to emulate disc channel. Or softmod.

    You've read something incorrect.

D3-2 cannot read backups because they are hard coded not to. The adjustment you may have read is to adjust the read head of the drive, which is sometimes useful if you get occasional issues, especially with dual layer. The other 'adjustment' would be to rip out the D3-2 drive PCB and fit an older board that you buy on eBay or somewhere like that.

Wait, wouldn't it be possible to use some modchip to add a firmware extension with data how to handle DVDRs like it was did on Gamecube?

I don't know anything about that but it just doesn't exist right now. You can wait around if you like, in the hope that someone creates it.
