Right... Actually, I don't have to hope myself, I have a launchday Wii, I'm just being curious.

so no one knows this kind of mod, but i tell you that in portugal d3-2 drives after they connect a sun ship and modding the drive they run backups from a dvd disc, not from sd or hdd

I don't know how to do it, so i'm asking here, but it seems no one knows the trick

Maybe they really flash the drive's firmware to lower version?

I've been testing games with the Wasabi DX chip from the recovery screen. I upgraded from 4.1 to 4.2U with Endless Ocean, but that did nothing as did the 4.0 to 4.1U update using NSMB. The Wii can only autoboot a handful of games. None of the custom recovery discs autoboot. It will not autoboot any original games either, which leads me to think there are IOS missing from the Wii. I've only gotten to the save game screen on Tiger Woods '08 and Backyard Football '08, which doesn't help because those save files are small. Other burned games produce an error has occurred message at the first screen, but most games will not boot at all. The rest of them will simply freeze at the first or second loading screen. I think this Wii is toast, but I'm going to try Lego Indiana Jones 2 and Smash Bros. PAL before giving up.

4.2 will only boot in region games, so only ntsc-u. You can try to patch the iso to autoboot.

Don't all the ISOs already autoboot? I tested them on another Wii, and they all autobooted. So basically upgrading to 4.2U was a terrible move now that I can't use the out of region Smash Bros. to clog the memory even with WiiFrii, right? I love how this guy suggested that to fix all brick issues. Hopefully, my Wii won't even boot Indiana Jones 2, so I won't even have to worry about being screwed by the update.

The 4.2 update complicates matters for you. I don't know who told you to update to 4.2, but that has limited usefulness.

I finally got a Wii to autoboot before freezing when creating the save file--Need for Speed Nitro. I hope the save file was created, but it froze at the next intro Loading screen. I wish I had access to the PAL release, but you said I can't boot PAL games even with WiiFrii, right? I wonder why all these games are freezing at the menu or not even loading at all. Do the IOS files allow Wii games to load past the intro screens?
