Bricked wii --> I think its banner-bricked, but is it? confused ><

    Hello all,

I can't load my system menu. When I boot up, I see the health warning screen. Sometimes the 'Press A' flashes once but it always freezes right there. ONCE it made it to the menu and then froze immediately. This is considered banner-bricked?

The thing is - I wasn't messing around loading any WADs - no channels or even messing with the system menu itself. Besides my dad playing Wii Sports Golf, I haven't even been using it. He says he didn't install any updates. It honestly feels like its out of nowhere [I must've done something, lol].

Ok, I was on SM 4.0 when I started having issues. I successfully installed SM 4.1, lost preloader, and was left with only bootmii boot2 and cboot2.

I recovered HBC, priiloader and tried to reinstall SM4.1. FIRST installing IOS60-patched and then the SM [lost priiloader again, duuur]. After that I was still getting the freeze at the health screen.

Tried to virginize my Wii via the stickied guide. I followed everything except I didn't uninstall bootmii or HBC. I then started over using the stickied guide 'New 3.1-4.1 Softmod for ANY Wii.'

I started to wonder if maybe I accidentally installed a PAL update from a game. Then I wonder if my system was even 'U' anymore - thought maybe it was PAL somehow. LOL. I ran AnyRegionChanger just to see what it said. Everything is still NTSC and I didn't change anything.

I also tried replacing my settings.txt file using "GC Settings Fix'' w/ NTSC settings file. I tried to load official copy of wii sports through neogamma- it freezes at the reminder to put the wiimote strap on. I tried a NTSC backup of madworld and it went pass the reminder screen then froze.

I don't have a NAND backup...I don't even know if bootmii was around when I first hacked my Wii.

Finally - perhaps my IOS are just way outta whack:

Are you able to boot HBC with wiimote support?

Load anytitle deleter mod from HBC, update the database, then backup your title list. Post the title list here, it will be on your sd-card.

If you have any savegames you care about, it is a good time to back them up with savegame manager.

OK, load dop-ios-mod v11.5 from HBC, use ios249
Update your ios files. Start from the lowest number, then work your way up.
Check the installed version #, if it is not installed, don't install it. Otherwise, update them all, regardless of what you have, without patches. Install ios36 and ios60 with patches. Then install system menu 4.1. Then remove stubs

Load any title deleter mod, use ios249
    Delete
ASCII Code: NGBL - Type: Installed Channel Title - Name: ?
    Delete ios20 ios30 and ios50

It should not take to long, but give it some time. If it won't go, restart and continue with the rest. Keep track of errors, frezzes and crashes. Post back here.

Ok, IOS36 wouldn't budge so I restarted the Wii, skipping IOS36. I patched the rest EXCEPT IOS60. The rev was the same, but I'm not sure if it has the same three patches as the patched IOS60 wad I used to install SM4.1. My only option was to go older, so I did nothing. Should I retry IOS36? Move on with the rest of the steps?

    Go back into dop-ios-mod
Install the older ios60 with patches, then the 4.1 sm, unless you already did. Remove stubes, and delete the titles mentioned.

Try again with ios36, if it fails reboot and try the old version of ios36
