If this fails are there any other ways to get this Wii back up and running?

Is there any way to get the Wii to boot fron the SD card? If I can boot form SD is it possible to create a nand from my operational Wii and them put the SD into the brick and force a start from there?
It can take some time. Did you patch the iso to autoboot?

Try to set a few other games to autoboot just to test. On my wii, some games will autoboot without the chip set to autoboot, while others will not. So try someother games, it is possible that they will also offer an update. Seems that your settings.txt is currupt somehow.

If you can't get a game to boot and update, your chip is likely not setup to autoboot disks. You may need to remove it and configure it to autoboot in another wii. Assuming the wiikey autoboots, as I know little about it.

I did the patch to autoboot. When I did that it only took about 1 second to patch it. Does that sound right? I have no way of telling if it patched or not.

So remove the chip and put it in another Wii. SOunds like something a little more advanced. Is the chip soldered onto the board?

Can you tell me what some of the games are that will run without the chipset being set to autoboo? And do they have to be a raw copy?

1 second sounds right to patch. You can try some other games. Read up on how to configure a wiikey. You could try to load the config disk from RM. And I don't know if it is soldered or not, could be solder or a clip.

That is what I do, but it is up to you. I really enjoy loading games from usb. Just be sure to read this-

Your issue was likely caused by updating from an out of region disk.

If you want to softmod, read the 3.1-4.1 guide linked below.
