    Unhappy Is my Wii bricked?

Hi, I am a bit of a novice with all this stuff, so apologies for my lack of appropriate language, but really hoping someone can help. A series of events has led me to believing (fearing) that my wii is bricked. As follows:

    1. I had my Wii chipped in Nov. 08

    2. I herad from a friend that you shouldnt go online, or nintendo can block your wii.

    3. Last week my kid accidentally went online whilst Mario Kart (official verion) was on.

    4. We continued playing Mario Kart (official version) for a while with no hassles.

    5. After this none of my games would work (both official and copied), just a message, white text on black screen, error has occured turn off power, troubleshoot, blah blah.

    6. I tried all discs and while none would work, Mario Kart still worked???? Found this very strange.

    7. I went onto this site with a desperate plea for help!!!

And here we are! Thanks for reading and any help or advice or possible explanation of what happened would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks, Wayno.

What region is your wii? What are the first few #'s of the serial number?
What system menu version is the wii on now? What was it on before? This can be found in the wii settings.
Do you know what kind of chip you have?
What is the region of mario kart?
What about your other original games? Is it possible they are a different region? USA ntsc or Euro pal.

It sounds like your wii was updated to 4.2, and mario kart is in the region of your wii, while all your other non-functional games are out of your wii's region. If this is the case, your wii is not bricked, but there is nothing you can do about it at the moment. Perhaps in the future there will be a firmware update for your chip with a fix, but at this time the only solution is to softmod or only play games in the wii's region.
