    thank you

Okay so I was really lost until I saw this

"did you try starting your wii with the reset button pressed?" - that worked for me

A friend of mine modified my wii for me. Currently unavailable so I could not question. I started reading this guide and nothing seemed to help me until I found that sentence.

Once I did that I guess it activated boot mii because I got a screen that said load system and I am back to using home brew channel.

    The screen I received said
Exception (DSI) error occured - then it had eight columns and eight rows of GPR errors

Next it had two more lines.

After that is - "Stack Dump:"

    Lastly is - "Code Dump:"

This problem seemed to start right after we sync'd the new Lego Wii Remotes we bought for our children for X-mas.

If I choose option 2 - Homebrew Channel it goes back to this BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH

If I choose option 3 - BootMii IOS it goes to a screen with four icons but it seems "frozen" in that I can not use the wiimote or select any of the icons to make it do anything. I just have to hit reset which of course gives me the BSOD.

If I choose option 1 - System Menu - the Wii menu pops up like normal. I can select the homebrew channel. I can load "new super mario bros" game (which my little guys absolutely love). Most people would say "don't choose option 2 or 3 dummy.

Well, to me, it seems I still have a problem. Yes I can start the game and play it; however, when I am done playing I normally hit the home button and I choose reset. When I hit reset it takes me back to the BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH. Not good.

I have read Maui's posts where he states a bad wireless/bluetooth connection can cause this screen. I feel like I have had controller connection issues ever since I had this wii. Now that I am reading about this I am more concerned about that fact that, myself, while player 3 in "new super mario bros" with a Lego wii remote kept "dropping" (would lose connection, have to hit 1&2 and wait 15-30 secs to reconnect)

Is it possible or probable my issues are related to a bad bluetooth/wirless something on my Wii ? If so what is bad ? Do I buy it at the local Wal-Mart or is this something that is only sold online ? Thank you for your help. I don't know a lot about modding Wii's since someone else did this for me but I am not completely computer illiterate either.

couple things I forgot. I went back and thanked erikie as this was the person whose post I found helpful. Second thing I wanted to ask. I have noticed the donate signs. Please explain proper donate protocol to someone who doesn't understand. Are you asking for donations to the website or personal donations ? or both ? I don't find it unreasonable to thank people who help but I don't want to offend by donating to the website if people are asking for a personal donation or vice versa ... is my question clear as mud ?

    Ca Full brick help

My Wii was soft modded a few years ago. I am 3.2U. I installed what I'm guess is is a bad WAD, to update my firmware to 4.1, (for Rockband 3 SD reasons). I had Bootmii installed, it's gone now. I have just a black screen when I boot. Any suggestions? My son is going CRAZY without his Wii!!
I've been searching thru these forums, and many others. None seem to have any threads or posts about a BLACK screen on boot. Thus, no assistance seems to be available.
Since my Wii is a few years old, sending it back to Ninty for a repair is going to be my LAST option. Also, if I find a copy of the Universal Unbrick Disc ISO, is there a particular DVD burner I must use?

I see you figured things out, we thank you kindly for your donation. No staff user here (or any user, under the category of "better not" lol) seeks personal donations; we offer our advice and expertise freely. The site for both hardware and bandwidth does cost and the monetary donations --- all of it or them --- go towards maintenance or upgrades of the site. Once again, thanks for the donation

Black screen, replaced Bluetooth module once

    Hey guys,

I need help badly. I have a black screen wii that already has its Bluetooth module replaced and has a wii key installed. Here's the history of this wii:

    1. Gave wii to relatives from a different country.
    2. Updated wii with a disc from a different region. Result black screen
    3. Got wii back from relatives, replaced bluetooth module and i got it working again but had the opera system menu error.
    4. tried any region changer/NTSC 3.4 wad. Black screen is now back...
    5. Tried savemii gc controller trick, can't get the region/fw revision on screen.

The wii disc drive seems to spin and it sounds like wii is reading the disc. Does it matter if i used component cables as my video output? I also do not have boot mii installed nor backup my NAND.

I ordered another Bluetooth module but I starting to feel like I dumped another $20 on this freaking thing. What are my available options for a wii with a wiikey?

You Have get past this part before you can do anything. Do you have the GC controller apart as you are doing this? If not then do so. You can also hold the buttons down before you power on the Wii. You don't have to power on the Wii and fight with the timing.

If you are doing SaveMiiFrii correctly then it's not a bluetooth failure. Maybe a WiFi module but I doubt it since it was updated via an out of region disk.

Yes I took apart a genuine nintendo GC controller. I practiced the savemii controller trick on a legitimate wii and I got the timing down but it won't display the fw revision/region

Is there a region recovery disc for Wiikey?

Give that edit button a try.

    I am sorry

Your only hope is for it to be Boot2 compatible. If if is then you can have someone inject Bootmii into it to recover. If it isn't then..... your out of luck. Look up your serial number here to get an idea if it is.

I can't say for certain since there isn't any list in that range but if I was to guess I would say it is. You can pursue the fix yourself or you can hire someone to fix it for you. If you want to do it yourself then look here at this guide but to be honest, it's not really cost effective if you don't already have the equipment needed. If you want to have someone do it for you then here is a list of programmers.
