Maui, hi. im getting stuck on step 4:

Launch the HBC, click [HOME], Launch Bootmii
Multi-Mod Manager should load, it should be running on ios36-v16 or ios236
    Click on Wad Manager
I think i followed everything correctly. I have the system menus rar extracted to the sd card.
I go to Homebrew Channel as it says and click home, then launch bootmii.
In top left hand corder it says Network not initialized. Top right hand side it says 1.0.8 and IOS58 v24.31
So after clicking launch bootmii, the screen goes black and nothing happens. BEfore when i clicked it it said loading bootmii by some taco guy and it just sat there.
    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Edited post:
I have it working that Bootmii comes up now, but multi mod manager doesnt kick in so i can load all the wads.
    Can you help please

MAUIFROG is absolutely the man. Wiihacks was down for some reason yesterday and spent hours all over the internet trying to find a working solution for a semi-bricked Wii. Lots of fixes, but none worked. Tried Wiihacks again, loaded, found this tutorial and worked PERFECTLY the first time. Just follow the instruction per vatem.
Also am a Mac user so could not "verifly sums" but went ahead anyway.
    MUCH appreciated as ever

    Korean Wii bricked with modchip

Ok I kind of see where you are going here. Here's my situation I hav a Korean wii with mod chip. I dont know which one it was a gift. It got bricked on an American game with an update (little brother) I never knew about homebrew and that stuff to block it so obviously no updates were done. I got a 2008 super smash bros NTSC-J game and it did the update that I was hoping for to whatever software level. And its still bricked. I have the opera page in the settings. I also have the sd card image next to the Wii. Basically can't play any american games now and I can't read Japanese....

Where can I go from here. I do have an SD card.

You should be able to fix it loading apps with bannerbomb v2. So use the 4.2 method. If the wii was stock Korean, reinstall the Korean system menu. Just follow the guide on post #1.

Hi there. I've got a semi bricked Wii with the Opera error, and I just wanted to make sure I got this right. Sorry for hesitating, but the Wii isn't mine and its owner, who asked me to fix this, doesn't know anything about modding so I couldn't get every detail.

All I know for now is:

    -It's American region.
-LU60 serial, in case knowing that works for something.
-It's modchipped, because it can run backups via Disc Channel without any softmod installed. Don't know which modchip tho.
-Its System Menu version is below 4.0 because there's no SD icon.
-The owner recalls playing a Japanese backup, but can't remember if it contained a system update.
-A couple channels are repeated, one of them in Japanese language.

So, then, can I simply pop in a game with, say, 4.1U firmware and everything will be okay? Can the modchip have a conflict with this? I think modchips can survive firmware updates, but I'm not sure if every modchip can... and since I don't know which modchip is in there, I don't wanna screw things up hehehe.

I've tried Savemiifrii, but haven't gotten it to work...dunno if it's me or the Wii.

    Thanks in advance!!
