Right now it's showing "VIDEO=PROGRESSIVE". Should I still try to change it to NTSC?

It depends on the TV and cables you have. If you are using composite (red, white, yellow) cables then it should be NTSC (assuming you are in the US). If you have component (red, white, red, blue, green) cables then it should be PROGRESSIVE.

Do what mauifrog said first, and if that doesn't work just try different settings.

I tried using the Bootmii from the second step - same display. This also updated the video to NTSC as JOOSTINONLINE quoted. It's still coming up with the same display. I was really hoping it was an easy fix like that.

Try the older 4.2 method at the very bottom of the guide in the spoiler.

Mauifrog, you are amazing! I was able to get the firmware back down to 4.1. The only issue I had was with blocking the future updates. The link for hacks.ini.zip is broken. It wasn't a huge concern at the moment since I was able to get the usb loader working again.

I was able to bring it down to 4.2 and then 4.1 so your technique works perfectly on both. I have to thank you for your quick responses and expertise. You sir, are a king among men.

You can get the relevant hacks from this guide.

And don't bother editing the hacks.ini file. Despite what WiiJohn says, it isn't necessary. I mentioned it to him (in a nice way), but he just deleted my post.

The hacks.ini says good for ALL systems; perhaps he simply choose to edit his wording/guide and dispense with your post (though if so, a kind word would've been nice, lol).

Edit: re-reading his guide, I think I read into that too much. Yeah, he still recommends editing to suit the particular System Menu a user is utilizing.

No changes were made, he just deleted it. Editing the hacks.ini file only means that you have to redownload it every time you update your System Menu. It also gives you a chance to screw it up. I was pretty annoyed when I saw he deleted my post, but I didn't want to insult a staff member.
