First of all, thanks to mauifrog for the guide. I'm sure many people appreciate it, myself included. Second, I'm very surprised maui is still maintaining this thread and checking back and helping people with issues. Kudos to you good sir!

However I believe I have a problem that you've probably never seen before and probably won't be able to fix. I've tried many things to fix it, including your wonderful guide but I still have no luck in fixing it.

I can enter the Wii settings menu fine, but after changing the widescreen settings from 16:9 to 4:3 and then back to 16:9, the Wii freezes up (black screen, high pitched continuous sound coming from TV).

Any ideas why this happens or, more importantly, how to fix it?

edit: Adding some information. I've got a launch model PAL Wii on 4.2e, bootmii installed, no system menu hacks, plenty of free blocks, this never used to happen - has only been happening in the last few months, have a genuine WiiKey v1 installed (from before HBC existed).

First, I am glad you enjoyed this guide, but your issue is off topic. I suggest you make a new post in this section detailing your issue and what measures you have take and to what effect those measures have given you. This is not the place for that discussion.

Thanks to FireFox, my entire post disappeared with a press of the delete key. The short version this time is that I used your Softmod guide to fix my Wii, and now it works, but I still can't uninstall a corrupted My Pokemon Ranch wad.

I tried WadManager, ATDeleter, ATDMod, and the Data Management menu. All I get is freezes and ES_Identify (and ISFS_Open) errors.
Also, ATDMod thinks I have a PAL Wii even though I used your guide to update to 4.1U.

I don't want to take any unnecessary steps :|

Install cIOS16-v257.zip with wadmanager, use ios249 or 36 to install it. Then load any titile deleter db, use ios16 and delete the bad channel.

ATDeleter DB doesn't let me choose which IOS to load Also, my current IOS16 is:

IOS Version, FakeSign, ES_Identify, NAND, Flash
    "16 (v54321)",Enabled,Enabled,Enabled,Enabled

I will try updating to see what happens. It seems that using WadManager to try to reinstall Pokemon Ranch only reinstalls the tickets, btw. Didn't cause any problems, though. :|

EDIT: You're gonna think I'm some kind of idiot or liar, but when I went back to ATDeleter DB, it now shows fewer contents in the wad than before.

    Did have title.tmd, 00000004.app, 00000001.app, and 0000000b.app
    Now has title.tmd and 00000004.app

    I think something was working

EDIT2: According to DOP-Mii, I still have IOS16 v54321...I guess it was the same thing

FINAL EDIT: Hmmm, seems it can delete everything but the 00000004.app and title.tmd; I tried re/uninstalling a few times and it's just the same ones - first the four, then those two.

    Try ATD mod v6
AnyTitle Deleter MOD v6 - Homebrew - Wii - QuickJump Downloads

    First reinstall the wad
Then delete the channel title with ATD mod v6 using ios16

If that fails, find another copy of that channel wad and install it/uninstall it/delete, perhaps it will work for you.

Hmm...trying to install a different MPR wad gives me error (ret = -1035). Seems doing that convinced WADManager I've got a corrupted IOS, which I know is not true.

    Spoiler

    nice

I don't suppose trying to edit out the wad from my NAND using hex code on my PC would be a very good idea, eh? Especially with no experience. :*(

ARGHHH!!! It always stops installing at >>Installing content #04...
It still responds to the power, reset, and remote power buttons, but it won't finish!!!

Install it with ios236. Error ret 1035 means the version you are trying to install is older than the currently installed version. The ios needs a version patch to get past this error, which ios236, 249, 250 have.

Ios16 works well with ATD and should not give any errors.

I have seen cases where the nand is partially corrupted and a certain titile can not be deleted or installed/uninstalled. This has only been resolved with nand formatting, which is only recommended on boot2 bootmii wiis.

I did notice when I made my backup (which, yes, contains the corrupted wad) that I've got about three times as many bad blocks as before (the backup I lost). Still not many bad blocks but.....NAND formatting...hmm. That sounds like an idea. I'm guessing I can find a tut somewhere?

I will try ios236. Thank you.

EDIT: That tutorial on NAND formatting isn't too reassuring. Flusterclucked files not added to the main post makes me not want to trust them.

    nvm everybody NAND formatting worked
