Unhappy NTSC wii, pal update = brick blocked, any solutions?

    Hi all,

My girlfriend and I bought a Korean wii when we were living in Korea (May 08). We got it modchipped with homebrew so we could play English games.

We've since returned to Australia, where we bought guitar hero 5 for xmas.

In order to play guitar hero it said in Korean that we had to install an update, so we did. Now however, when we turn on the wii the TV only shows columns of green and purple pixels.

I've tried to get my head around a few tutes, both here and on youtube with no success.

Can the wii be saved, or is it time to buy a new one?

Thanks in advance. My GF really had her heart set on playing the game today

No, I didn't have these ?programs? installed before the brick block took place.

If I install them now, will it help? If so how would I go about it? I consider myself pretty technically capable, but wii's are foreign to me, so nice easy instructions would be nice.

    Thanks!

Yeah, it's green and purple pixelated columns as soon as I turn the wii on.

I can't get to homebrew or the wii menu.

No worries, thought that might be the case. Thanks for your help. We got it modded from a random vendor in Yongsan, the electronics district in Seoul.

Any other help would be much appreciated, otherwise we'll have to buy a new wii.

If may or may not be fixable. It is probably putting out a PAL signal now. You will need to verify that your tv can display pal. You may need to change a setting, or switch to a different display. The korean wii was set to ntsc, now it is pal. Get a compatible display, then post back here with what you see.
