Before you launch it I would consider sending it to Nintendo for repairs. Only $75. I don't think anything but boot2 would help you now partner.

if you dont want to get it repaired rob the parts off of it and sell it. The dvd drive is at least worth 50 bucks and you can sell the fan, case, and bluetooth module

I'm in the UK and I haven't got a clue how much it costs here to repair. Good idea about the parts though, I was really impressed with my soldering skills when I put the chip in

It may 'accidently' take a tumble downstairs, I can claim off the insurance then lol. I've had it since they were released in the UK, few years now.

It was modded by myself about 2 years ago with a Wiikey with no trouble.

I decided it was time to try the Homebrew Channel so went about installing pre-loader etc...

Installed the above and I had the "System files are corrupt etc..." so thought, oh bugger. Managed to get it back by installing a proper system wad and everything was working fine. I even had the Homebrew Channel installed, so I achieved what I wanted to do.

Then I messed up :/ I ran an update from a game (I know )

Now all the Wii does is turn on, just blank, nothing, not a sausage.

I've tried the 4 button Gamecube controller thing, didn't work.

Am I safe to assume it's now a door stop?

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.
From your description it sounds like your wii was downgraded, and then the disk upgraded you the a version in between the two. In this case say you where on 4* and downgraded to 3.2, you would have a stubed ios50. If you happened to play a disk that had a 3.4 update on it, it would see an ios50 of higher version # and skip the installation of the appropriate ios. In this case the system menu is installed, but only has a useless stubbed ios to run off of. Nothing you can do without bootmii, unless your in the mood to solder or pay someone to solder about 15 wires directly onto your nand, then you could flash it with a functional nand dump with the infectus chip, big job depending on your skill.

I can fix your Wii for you if you want, I am in the Netherlands.
Already saved a couple using an infectus.
Or you can buy an infectus yourself and I can help you out on the process.
It is up to you, but the Wii is really not dead yet!

Insurance said they will cover it, but I need an engineer's saying "Yeah, it's true... It's dead"

As soon as I get a piece of paper saying that, I get a new Wii.

Anyone out there that can help with that?

Great idea about Game, thanks for that. I've just rung them and they're expecting me tomorrow

I've seen them Wii's on Ebay, think thats the way to go so I can stick my dvd drive into 1 of them.
