Red face Wii System Menu Gone

I recently softmodded my Wii 4.2 pal using the "official 4.2 offline mod pack"

Worked a treat and can now play backups, I gave my friend the same files and somehow he has deleted his Wii System Menu.

He cannot get to the Wii System menu by any means, and if a program tries to "exit to system menu" a black screen comes up and the Wii Freezes. Obviously he can now not access the system settings / mii's etc

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

Posting for my friend as I work on a pc all day so can check back etc...

    Bit more information:

he can load up the homebrew channel and use neogamma etc to play a legit or backup game of a legit game. but just cant get to the main menu.

Is he able to get the preloader/priiloader screen up? If so, what does the IOS v xxx and System Menu v xxx say?

Preloader has System Menu, Homebrew Channel, Load/Install File etc text going down the page.

look in the the lower corners there will be an ios number. We need to know that so we know what system menu its trying to load.

Also when i say we i actually mean them because I am still a follower at this time. I know enough to not brick my wii(searching on here first)

Ok brilliant. Still need the IOS version and System Menu version though.

Recovery from this 'should' be straightforward.

    Ok brilliant.

It should be just a matter of running Wad manager, picking IOS249 and installing the following IOS70patched IOS70-64-v6687 [Patched][FreeTheBug].zip and System Menu v482. Use NUSD to grab Sys Menu v482 http://www.wiihacks.com/other-faq-gu...ownloader.html as I don't have it in storage at the moment. Make sure you pick the right one.

You will need to re-install priiloader again once this is done.

We are still unsure why Priiloader/Preloader does this from time to time.

Try 1.4 Version, it has less options to confuse you.

Ret=-1 means the manager can't find your card or the wads in the wad folder.
