    Think i've totalled it

I've bricked my wii, and this is the second time now so you'd think I'd learned my lesson after being on my second wii now. Basicly I had preloader installed but it's been wiped off because of something I did in wad manager. I think I installed cios 249 for whatever reason, I couldn't install the trucha restorer, so I was trying to recover the bannerbomb installation, i tried a few other ios's too. Anyway I think i've screwed it. It started with some system problems, my wifi wasn't working and when I went into the system settings I got a black screen, so I thought I had problems, not as big as this one though lol. I got the feeling it was to do with mymenuify which i'd used to install a dodgy theme, I was trying to get rid of this theme and default back to the main so I was trying to rewrite the system menu over it which it failed on. When I rebooted I got the preloader menu but I installed the wrong things I think and it never switched back on.

Question is this, if I buy a mod chip is there a mod on the market that can boot a disc, say the universal unbrick disc? Or can the mod chip boot without needing a system menu, since mine is buggered. Also I've heard of a system recovery menu, by pressing down all the buttons on the d-pad of a gamecube controller (with direction clip removed), do any of these methods work, or am I sending this back to ninty with my tail between my legs denying any loading of homebrew?

p.s. I had no bootmii installed, only as ios which I've probably wiped

If it's under warranty send it back. It sounds like through a combination of installing a theme (stupid mistake 1), semi-bricking (stupid mistake 2), and installing the 'wrong things' (stupid mistake 3) you have totally bricked your Wii.

You may be able to launch recovery menu using the GC controller trick but the likelihood of recovering with that level of corruption is very unlikely and would cost you a fair amount.

Never install a theme on a Wii that does not have bootmii/boot2, Preloader is worthless with System Menu corruption.

Provided you have a black screen on start up then Nintendo will have a hard time discovering the mess you made and probably send you a refurb. Say you got black screened when you did a NSMB disc update or something, don't use the word brick.
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.

Yeah I thought as much. It's still under warranty. When I returned my first wii to the shop, which i used softmii on bah! All for stupid themes which make it look like sh** anyway. I hope i'm not so stupid next time, but I just can't keep my mitts off things lol. I should have been happy that I could play 100 or so games off hard drive without even having to get out of my seat, but I'll always carry on meddling seeing what things can do. Wii's obviously a bit more fragile than my ps2 and xbox1 which I managed to mod and theme til the cows come home lol

    Another lesson learned.

so is there a way to unbrick this with any of the chips out there, maybe an autoboot wasabi or a sundriver?
