    Banner brick turned full brick

Alright, My friend wanted me to update his wii to 4.2 so I did. Everything was going fine, I got bootmii reinstalled(ios not boot2), made a nand back up and was working on the preloader when everything went down hill. I was trying to install the patch.wad to install the preloader but for some reason it was not working. So I thought I would simply uninstall everything and start again. I guess this was a bad idea. I uninstalled the patch and rebooted the wii to start fresh. Upon restart the wii would only display a black screen. So far I have determined that it is most likely a banner brick but unlike the forums I have read I can not get savemiifree to work. Here are the current stats.

    • wii can be powered on by wiimote but fails to maintain sync.
    • wii can be powered on with power button
    • disc tray flashes once
    • if disc is inserted, disc will spin

From what I have read this is a full brick and my options are...

    • Send wii in to Nintendo to fix (Fairly sure wii is out of warrenty)
    • Buy a modchip with autoboot
    • Buy a new wii

Basically, I want to confirm what I have found. Is there any way to fix the wii without spending a lot of money? Are there any other options that I am missing? In your opinion what would be my best option?

Thanks for all the help, hopefully my friend wont be too mad and maybe they will stop coming to me for all their hacking.

It is a full brick, you uninstalled ios70 which is the system ios. The wii will not work without ios70, sorry. You broke the most important rule, never uninstall an ios under 200.

Sooo.... There is nothing that can be done? Not even with a mod chip? Are my only options to send it in to nintendo or buy a new wii?

    Thanks again

Just those options. A modchip is only useful for minor System damage and when savemii/frii actually works. You've totalled the Wii so it won't work.
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.

Well, thats good to know... Thanks for the reply I will inform my friend of the damage that I have caused hopefully it is still under warrenty. (Hopefully I won't have to pay for it.)
