    Black Screen Brick

Hi, Im new to this site and have limited experience but can follow clear instructions.

i have a wii which is now displaying just a black screen -

its turns on and the green power light is showing,

the disc noise sounds and the blue disc light flashes once -

but then thats it just a black screen.

this all started from me updating my wii to FW 4.2e - this prevented a number of my back ups being able to work?

i asked a friend to (an IT guy at work) to downgrade back to FW 4.1 - he was able to do this but ended up with 3.2, when upgrading back to 4.1 it said successful then bricked the wii and now im left with a black screen.

is there anything i can do - i used to be able to play back ups on my wii so im guessing it has been chipped - but i wouldnt know what was put in it?

any help on this would be great - i want my wii back!

if someone could give me some detailed instructional advice that would be great - surfing the net it seems this has happened to loads of people but i couldnt understand any of the solutions?

    cheers

    Dave

Hold reset when you power on. Does it bring up preloader?

    Possibly a stub IOS60 brick.

If it is and you don't have bootmii/boot2 installed then you won't be able to recover it.

Check your DVD slot for a dual flash when you power up.

Check for savemiifrii functionality, GC controller, port 4, press all directions on D-Pad as you power up.

If these don't work there are two choices.

    1) Bin.

    2) Send to Nintendo.

    Hi guys,

if i turn it on and press reset nothing happens - when i turn it on the disc drive only flashes once? there has to be a way of getting this back - i have tried the GC controller by pressing all the d-pad buttons at once (question is does this have to be a genuine GC controller or can it be an after market one?)

any help or input could help

Any GC controller, it's easier with a 3rd party.

Personally I think you are not going to get this Wii working, a Wii without IOS60 is like a Windows PC without a windows folder ie. Useless.

It sounds like your wii is bricked for good. When you where on 4.2, ios30, ios50, and ios60 where replaced by stubed ios files which have a higher version #. When the wii was downgraded, ios30 and system menu 3.2 where manually installed. When upgrading back to 4.1, he must have neglected to install ios60 which is required to run the system menu. There is no fix for this short of reflashing the nand chip, which I have never seen anyone do.

    Sorry for your loss.
