    Send to Nintendo?

Ok, in a nutshell I have a softmodded wii, did it a long time ago, was stupid, didn't read enough, no bootmii, no preloader, blah blah blah......anyway, long story short, daughter runs the update on Disney Singit, Pop hits or what ever it is called, and BOOM...Black Screen. Can't recover, savemiifii does nothing, get no response on multiple TVs, component or composite - no video signal. wiimote turns on system, then wiimote flashs, but that is about it, not even FW version on the screen...toast...brick....fried.

I know, I know, I deserve it, and I have no issue with being told that, I take my lumps....

I have (had) HBC and USBLoader installed and such, god nows what IOS's I have on there, I was not real careful during my mods, just trying to get things to work, and until last night, all was well.

My question...do I risk sending this to nintendo? I have no issue paying for the repair, at 75 plus ship/handling, but are they going to find this stuff and go all nutso legal on me, like lawyers and stuff? Am I just being paranoid? Should I go the refurb route from game stop instead?

I would just hate for nintendo to decide that I am the guy they want to make some example out of.

    Thoughts?

So you're positive you don't have boot2 (disc light flashes twice quickly when you power on) or preloader (hold reset when you power on to pull it up)?

Say it happened when you put in the new update thru them,
This might just work as nintendo does know of this 4.2 update that seems to brick , modded and unmodded.
    Hope this helped!

They will check it for signs of modding. You won't need a lawyer, haha. They will charge you upto the amount of a new wii (sometimes less) and send it back to you without homebrew and maybe with a new chip to prevent the playing of burnt discs. Again, are you sure you don't have the two things I asked about?

pretty sure, I only have a single drive flash when I turn it on. being totally honest here, I don't remember exactly what method I used to mod. I want to say I used hackmii installer or some variant, but after that, no clue. all I know is that right now, I can't seem to get it to "do" anything other than turn the unit on.

    no other signs of life.

I may just go the refurb route from a game stop or something.

just send it in and if they contact you about it being modded say you had bought it from a flea market and that you stuck a disc in it and it wanted to do a update "ITHink" and it didnt come back on. im really really annoyed. what with sony firmware rendering my bluray drive inoperable now your nintendo game has killed my wii. DONT say brick"

    read this and then decide

Can you boot the wii into the recovery menu using savemiifrii?
    Ipsa scientia potestas est.

I am assuming that I can not boot with savemiifrii. I've tried.

I have disassembled my original nintendo brand GC controller, put it in port 4, did the 4 directional press several times...nothin. Not even a blip on the screen. I even hooked it up through an old VCR, you know the kind that defaults a blue screen....turn on the wii, not a blip, screen stays blue...i am getting no video out at all, not with composite, or component, tried a couple of TVs.

I don't want to believe it, but it truly seems dead in the water.

so those Driveboards I see on ebay will fix my problem? I see like full system boards with ports and everything out there for well over 100 bucks, but I also see the driveboards for under 50????? Is it a tough install? if it requires a lot of soldering I am out, I am TERRIBLE at soldering anything
