quote from wiibrew, sound like can be fixed sortof:

    Error 003
    From WiiBrew
    Jump to: navigation, search
    Description
The so called Error 003 occurs when a Korean Wii gets region switched to a different region and then updated to 4.2 via the online update.

    Technical cause
System menu 4.2x calls a new ES Ioctlv(0x45) which got added in IOS70 on other IOS' this Ioctlv always returns -1017.

If the korean-common-key is present IOS70 will return 0, which will then trigger the error in the system menu.

    Fixing
Since the rescue menu still works you can use it to fix your Wii, you also need a drivechip or any other device making your Wii capable to play burned discs.

Get one of the games which load the exploit from SD (ie. Smash Stack (only the as of yet undeveloped PAL version of the exploit, the NTSC version of the game will not autoboot) or Indiana Pwns(requires that you already have the save files on there from before)). Create an autoboot disc from it and use it to run i.e. a wad installer to install a different system menu or a tool which patches the check out.

    @mauifrog,
do you have any other suggestions? any other games that can autoboot and have exploit?
It is hard to say, but I think without a drive chip, original disk can not autoboot without a system menu hack, which would be gone following an update.

Wiibrew has said that the ntsc will not auto boot, but pal will. I have read comments of people how have booted the ntsc and used the smash stack, but those where banner bricks.

So if original games will not boot, particularly ssbb, or lego indiana then the only thing that can be done is try a chip, or replace the mainboard. And it seems that these disks are not going to autoboot without a chip.

Well I can only guess as I don't have one to experiment on, but there are a few autoboot disks at disposal, particularly there is an autobooting hbc, and another that apparently loads an app from sd-card.

But the unfortunate fact is if they can't autoboot anything, there is nothing they can do. Something must autoboot is these wii's, but there are only so many options.

Shouldn't Step 2 and Step 1 be switched, cause a trucha bugged IOS is needed to install cIOS38-r14. Some people may not have had a cIOS previously installed. Correct me if im wrong

We are assuming that they had a cios prior to the 4.2 upgrade, so in step 1 they attempt to reinstall it using ios249. If that fails they go to step 2, then install the cios in step 4. I did forget to and direction after step 1, so it now directs to step 2 if fail or step 5 if pass.

i read in another forum (http://www.ps3news.com/forums/wii-ne...tml#post275506), you need to run SSBB from DVD5 version since RM can't read DL disks. Can someone verify or test this?

also, i heard 4.2 update disables region-free hacks. that's why SSBB only spins when trying to boot but can't load anything. if this is true, then we need to use SSBB (NTSC-U) from DVD5 version.

anyway could you teach me how to create autoboot hbc disc or autoboot a wad manager from sd-card in 4.2K (bricked error:003).

at least i can try it.

I have not tried to boot this, but it would provide the most benefit. Would require a mode chip

I have never made an autoboot cd, but if I have time I will look into those details. I believe there is info on the subject on wiibrew.

updating the quote... no way , a virgin korean console can't boot modded discs, becouse it dont have a previous hacked ios installed on nand , so, only way " i think " is a good hacker debug a nand image to modify a routine of installed ios on dumped image and reflash it back... without the common key, i think it's too hard , we can get the board or a faulty wii on ebay around 80/90 usd usa version with bad drive disc and change it ...
