Another possibility would be an out of region game update on a Korean wii. A softmoded/hardmoded Korean wii with Korean settings and Korean menu takes a disc update from a 4.2/4.3 USA game. The USA system menu will not load any games when the game region is set to KOR.
This is not a region problem. I got a 003 wii with 4.3 usa firmware and korea region settings and I could fix it. In this case when I tried to load the usa game it showed a region mismatch error in wode screen. I modified the header to korea in the usa game and it loaded.

This console now starts load without errors and then freeze in a black screen. I think itīs because of an incomplete update. Iīm giving up...

    Thanks for your help.

No shit, I will have to try that. I have never been able to load disc on a semi bricked KOR wii. Did this error 003 wii list 4.3 KOR in RM? The U/E/K/J in RM is from the region setting, not from the system menu. So a semi bricked Korean wii with USA menu installed would show system menu KOR in RM, even with the USA menu installed. I could not even get a 3.2-4.1 korean semi bricked with USA, displaying 3.2-4.1KOR in RM to accept a disc update. I tried USA disc, KOR disc, I don't know if I tried USA patched to KOR though.

This was a 003 bricked wii. In RM it showed 4.3 (KOR). When I tried to load korean SSBB it starts load and then wode showed "region mismatch" error. When I tried to load starfox usa (VC) it not started and showed same error. I modified the header to korean in starfox usa and it loads (usa game with korean header). I made a disc swap with SSBB PAL and fixed the brick. When I start ARC it showed a message error because region was korean and system was USA. I modified the region and save the config. All the swap was made with wode, ok? I donīt know if it will work in drive swap.

Thank you, that is excellent info.

I have tried this from disc without any success. Can I ask exactly how you patched the header to KOR?

    I did-
    wit edit USA-Game.iso --id=0SBK01 --name "SwapDisc-PWNS" --region KOR --modify=DISC

This did not work for me with starfox-USA or Castelvenia-USA. What did you do?

I have tested this more without luck. The only way this would work from my tests is if the wii had USA system menu, KOR system settings with game region changed to USA.

These are my results with KOR settings and USA menu
Language set to KOR prevents system menu from loading. 3.x loads to health screen, then black screen. 4.x loads to colored purple lines.
System Region set to KOR gives 3.x-4.x (KOR) in RM with USA menu installed
Game Region set to KOR with USA menu- prevents all disc loading, no games, no disc update, no recovery disc, nothing loads or every seems to try to load.

So if someone had a USA system menu installed and had 3.x-4.x (KOR) in RM, I think they must have patched only the game region in setting.txt to USA, then semi bricked. If the game region was USA and the menu was USA you could fix it. Some the user I quoted who fixed a bricked error 003 with 4.3(KOR) in RM, must have had the game region set to USA.

I have only tested from disc, so perhaps there is some wode magic that can fix it. I don't think it can be fixed though. I am pretty sure that a semi bricked wii with all KOR settings and a USA menu is bricked beyond repair, probably true for EURO/JAP as well.

Is it possible that this wii had all KOR settings, except the game region? Perhaps only the game region was changed to USA in the setting.txt before the wii bricked with error 003. Do you recall?

Also the language setting was probably also set to English, ssbb-pal will not load on languages that are not EURO. I think someone did a half region change on this wii. They probably only changed the game region and language in the setting.txt to USA, but did not properly change all the settings, leaving the wii region set to KOR.

Mauifrog, Imīm not sure if RM showed 4.3 KOR or USA (related to console/system region settings, not game region). I only remember the mismatch error showed in ARC. I will make some simulations in my wii and post the results.

    Look this post:
    http://www.wiihacks.com/bricked-wii-...tml#post553917

My answer was based in a "4.3 USA" bug so Iīm almost sure that the console showed 4.3 USA not KOR. I wii make some tests here with all options using wode.

    My tests:

Using wode in RM with a USA console with 4.3 USA firmware (itīs not a korean wii).

1- All settings KOREA (Language, Console and Game):
SSBB KOR = freeze in black screen (only 15 kb loaded)
SF USA = region mismatch error (0 kb loaded)
SF USA (HEADER KOR) - > SSBB PAL = freeze in masterpieces menu
SF USA (HEADER KOR) - > SSBB KOR = EXPLOIT OK!

2- All settings KOREA except Language (ENGLISH):
SF USA (HEADER KOR) -> SSBB PAL or KOR = EXPLOIT OK!

3- All settings KOREA except Game (USA):
SF USA -> SSBB PAL or KOR = EXPLOIT OK!

    Conclusions:
The console region doesnīt matter (it changes only the U / K / J / E in RM). The game region is related to the HEADER and the firmware region is related to the game version. The Korean language only loads SSBB KOR (not PAL).

I wanna to simulate now the dop-ios bug and make the same tests using wode. Do you know how to "bug" the console with this? Do you wanna more tests with korean settings?
