You're bringing a little hope to me. I have one question: are there any switches on the drivekey for the "drivekey-on region override-on update blocker-off autoboot-on full gc regionfree-on" things? I thought these settings were accessible only when 'Pressing 3 times the eject button' while viewing the channels menu. But if the Wii's bricked, how to get there? Or do I need to use the drivekey on another Wii (*sigh*) to set it up and then place it back to my bricked one?

you have to set the settings on a working wii by pressing eject 3 times and put it back on the bricked wii, i dont think the indiana jones ntsc game i have here are modded because then i turn autoboot off on the drivechip the game dont boot up, just black screen and the disk just spinning and nothing happens. autoboot back to on and the game starts up

Ok, I bought a GameCube controller and a 2GB SD-Card. Before I disassemble my console I'd like to try my options (I know, it seems not possible to unbrick it so far if the wii doesn't have bootmii or savemiifrii).
    1. To check if I have bootmii (or other utility) I should try to boot with GameCube controller plugged-in port 4 and startup the wii pressing the 4 Up-Right-Down-Left cross buttons, right? WHat is supposed to happen? Would it boot something from the SD-Card or do I need a DVD?
    2. ... well, I'll try '1' tonight

    1. you would see the version of system menu. in this case, it would be 4.2U. if you see this, means you are in the recovery mode. from here on, you would need to boot to any games as suggested by mauifrog. either SSBB or indiana pawns.

the problems is, getting it to autoboot. the quickest (or I would say most convincing) method is to autoboot SSBB so that you can run smash stack exploit (loading hacks from SD card). but if you have read previous pages, they don't autoboot as what we expect it would do. but if you're lucky.. then you'll be the light in the dark

Ok, hopefully I can get to this.

I wish I could bring light here. I read the wiibrew wiki page about the boot0, boot1 and boot2 booting sequence and I think anyway I am in deep sh*t. If I understand well, the 4.2 update have updated the NAND boot1 that contains the bug allowing to load any boot2.

Does this FBOTD (Full Brick Of The Damned... any better name over here?) still allow to enter recovery mode?
If I can't autoboot, can I still boot manually or anyhow from this FBOTD?

so far recovery mode is proven working. but not autoboot games.

that is something you need to try on your console yourself. some consoles that already have some kind of hack already installed in it... can autoboot. but virgin consoles... still in debate wether they can autoboot games

you should try first and keep updating us what you did so that we can give our opinions

Yeah! (very small step performed actually ). I can see in the corner of the screen "4.2(USA)"
I went to the shop I bought it (fyi I am expatriate in Thailand) and they simply ignored knowing anything about modchip, drivekey or whatsoever. The sales guy was not the same (I think the one I talked to works only on week-ends so I'll go back there saturday). I wish I knew if there is really a drivekey or not. I don't want to have to disassemble to get to it.

Well... I am trying to find out about Indiana Pwns or SSBB, but I haven't played these games so no idea if this can work.

From recovery, can I boot direct an .elf (or similar) from the SD-Card? Is it supposed to boot if the SD-Card is in?
I need more background knowledge, going back to the site FAQ and Newbies section

I'll be back here and hopefully with something.

from what i know, there is no way in 4.2 you could boot directly from SD card. that's why we have to use Smash Stack exploit (from SSBB game) so that it can load hacks from SD card.

well let us know if you find something... good luck!

EDIT 2: Found info for SSBB. It might take a few days to get me that game (I am getting NTSC and PAL, not original. Will buy the original if necessary)
    Thanks

EDIT 3: I used a tool to set to autoboot a game I have the ISO and tried to boot it from the Recovery Mode (just insert the DVD, right?). I also tried to start the console in recovery mode with that DVD inserted and no result.
2 factors to note: - this is a PAL game, and - I hadn't tested this ISO before so I can't be certain it works. I deleted the ISO of the game I have actually tested
