Black Screen Brick, please help

So i'm not sure if its a full brick or semi-brick but here goes. I originally had a 3.3u and tried to use the Trucha Bug Restorer. I skipped a step and ended up with an upside down HBC. So i decided to just use my nand backup to get it back to normal. After restoring the nand, the HBC channel is fine but now i notice that my wii system menu is missing. it still shows the health screen but after i press A its just a black screen. Not sure if this occurred before or after the nand restore. From here i followed guides to safely upgrade to 4.2 and safely mod it etc. I have installed all the ios and cios's necessary to have homebrew working on 4.2, but i still have this black screen. I have bootmii, preloader, cIOS rev14 and i'm not sure what else to do. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Sounds likea bannerbrick to me. Sometimes you get garbled text rather than just a black screen. The cause of a banner brick is a bad channel that's corrupting things, the solution is removal of that channel.

It's a little odd that the channel is there from a NAND backup and it might be tricky to work out which channel is causing the problem.

If you can launch Anytitledeleter you will be able to view all channels and IOS that you have installed. Posting that information might help make a decision as to what the problem might be.

I used any title deleter mod v6 from red squirrel.
under Installed Channel Titles it names channels and games that i had downloaded legally, but there are 4 unknown channels:

4a4f4449 (JODI): UNKNOWN
4e47424c (NGBL): UNKNOWN
424b5550 (BKUP): UNKNOWN
4257474c (BWGL): UNKNOWN

I think i read that JODI is the new HBC. NGBL could be my neogamma backup loader, BKUP could me my older backup channel and BWGL sounds like my wii gator loader. Should i delete everything besides the JODI id?

Also with this any title deleter, its the one that says "letting wii know i'm god, i'm its daddy" etc and some errors come up, but by pressing A it continues to the normal screen where i can see the title id's with the name of the channel. Is that normal?

Yes I'd delete all but JODI. It's so easy to install the most up-to-date channels afterwards.

ok so i deleted all the unknown titles besides JODI and i still get a black screen. I don't know if its a bannerbrick because i never see screens of garbled text. My wii remote shows that its still connected to the wii if that means anything. I can run everything fine in homebrew even emulators, preloader is fine, there are no messages saying i have corrupt files or anything. My wii menu just doesn't show up. Any other tips?

It's rather an odd one.

I'm hesitant to recommend installing sys menu again because of banner brick like symptoms, as installing menu will remove preloader.

Unbricking with bootmii/boot2 is complicated by lack of wiimote support.

Can't think of anything else though.

Might as well go for ios70 and sys menu 4.2 wad installs. You are at 4.2 right now?

i have already tried reinstalling 4.2 through wad install and have a patched ios 70 installed. reinstalling 4.2 deleted preloader yes, so i just installed preloader again since i have bootmii as boot2 and can access my hbc. there are some unknown files saves maybe i'll try deleting those and see what happens. i just need a way of getting my system menu to show up, thats my main problem.

so i found out i was able to acces my wii menu through maintenance mode (hold +,-, and A at health screen), so now i was wondering if reformatting my wii would delete whatever corrupt file is preventing me from accessing the menu normally. Or is there away to delete my message board messages since something may be corrupt in there since i can see my menu with the message board disabled.
