    Bricked Pal Wii

    hi,
i managed to brick my wii (not sure how)
i have a wiikey 1.9s, the wii was on 3.3e
i hadnt used it in over a year but wanted to play NSMB but after reading about all the issues thought i would need to update to 4.2e and make some mods to the IOS (again not 100% sure what i am up to )

    i followed the guide here:
HOWTO: Safely Upgrade To System Menu 4.2 Ade's Softmodding Wii blog

and successfully installed bootmii and made a nand backup prior to updating

i then followed this guide as i had the impression i needed to (did i?)
    http://sites.google.com/site/complet...trucha-bug-4-2

after that my HBC was upside down so i tried this guide
    http://sites.google.com/site/complet...-stuff/fix-hbc
    but it didnt work.

assuming i had screwed something up (and expecting that i would, hence the nand backup) i proceeded to restore the backup
i intially got an error so used the following command to get the restore to take
    copy /B nand.bin + key.bin newnand.bin

after that i had a black screen after the bootmii screen whether i loaded the wii or the HBC
    i tried a tool Bootmii-KEYFIX.exe
and did another restore but have the same issue.

i assumed my backup must have corrupted and i tried the sticky on this forum (unbrick with bootmii but no nand backup)
but i cant get wadmanager to load (black screen)

can anyone tell me what i have done, or what i can do to get out of this.

    thanks!

Try to run a few different versions of wadmanager.

Try to run dop ios mod

    hi,

thanks for your reply, really appreciate it.
tbh, i think the issue i am having is that cboot2 is not working (rather than wad manager), as i get no video output when that is on my SD card,
i followed the instructions that come with it as much as i can and also the ones in the sticked guide but nothing happens.

am i reading it correctly that cboot2 loads an alternative app in the bootmii folder or is that incorrect?

    Try to download this
Format your sd card and extract those files to your sd-card
    This should boot wadmanager

Also, with your original bootmii files, you can still boot into bootmii? Does it tell you what system menu and ios your on?

When your in bootmii, what is the percent of your NAND usage? Perhaps you do not have the required ios to run wadmanager if it is very low number. Can you get signcheck or ioscheck or dop ios mod, anything. If not your probably halfway screwed. You may want to have a look at comex formater, which would wipe the nand using bootmii and install the bare minimum ios to run the system menu. You will have to compile it yourself.

thanks again, not in front of the wii now, but from memory the nand useage is at around 77%

    ill try those apps ASAP.

i also have a friend preparing me a nand dump using betwiin and my keys so i will try that after those apps and then comex as a last resort.

so updates as follows, none of those apps boot using cboot - would there be any reason why cboot wont load while bootmii will?

i tried reflashing using a good nand backup but the boot1 versions gave a mismatch so im still at square one.

is there any way to get that comex tool wihtout booting a linux os?

Bootmii as boot2 should always load. The apps loading to black screen sugests that the ios they use is missing or currupted. Your nand backup may have been bad, or perhaps your restore was bad. You may want to try restoring the nand again.
