Uninstalled IOS60 but have NAND backup

Ok. My wii is a year old. I followed the directions at New 3.1-4.1 Softmod for ANY Wii - Page 475 and it work(ed) like a charm.

However, last night, in an improper state of mind i did something REALLY REALLY stupid. Ive been using NEOGAMMA to play backedup discs. I wanted to get my external WBFS formatted USB device working with it. Neo Gamma wouldn't load the device.

I tried installing USB Loader GX but couldn't get it running.

To make a long story short i hastily made some changes and i think i must have uninstalled IOS60. Now I have the Black Screen of death I'm afraid. Tried holding down reset while powering on and still nothing. I made a NAND backup, but have no idea how to get to it with a black screen.

Can anyone help me? I'm computer savvy... it was just a hasty mistake that i'm regretting DEEPLY.

    Thank You!

    -E

If bootmii was installed as boot2, meaning you had to navigate with your power/reset/eject buttons to make your nand dump, when your bootmii folder and nand dump are in your sd card and you power on your wii with sd card in then it should load. If you made a NAND Dump with bootmii as an IOS (through homebrew channel) then in this case that is useless and the only fix is to send it back to nintendo.

    Thank You for quick reply.

When i made my NAND dump, i DID have to navigate using power/reset/eject buttons. I couldn't use the wiimote. Do you have to navigate the same way (power/eject/reset) when you make a NAND backup through homebrew as you described?

One more question.. do i have to prepare my SD card any specific way? I have my NAND.. should it be at the root for example?

Thanks a million for the reply. I'm sooooooo mad at myself at the moment.

Yes, your nand should be on the root and the bootmii folder should be too.

Done. And tried to hold reset while powering up as well, no response.

I will NEVER mess with installs uninstalls while drinking ever again! Especially without instructions.

I still get a black screen, nothing. Gonna try a few things in the Fully Brick, Bootmii/boot2 installed but No Nand Backup? Solution Here! forum i guess.

No other solutions huh? I'll be sure to hit the thank you button for you as you've been very helpful.

    ok it's bricked. so...

Today i want to get a new one. I have two options and want some advice please.

Gamestop has wii's onlsale NEW for 199.99. They also have USED wii's for 169.99. My question to you guys is this....

Which one should i seriously get?

I'm pretty sure the used ones have frimware in the lower than 4.2. The new ones could have any firmware in them. I'm guessing 4.2, but who knows. Not sure how long they sit around before being shipped out.

    Oh.. i AM re-softmodding whichever i get.

    Suggestions? Thanks guys!

It's not really possible to brick a Wii through software enough that it can't be recovered through boot2, we know as we had a fearless guy called Jamie who did some crazy stuff with his Wii.

If you get two flashes in 1 second when you power on your Wii (no reset pressing) then you can recover your Wii. If you have this and your Wii will not load bootmii then it's your SD card that is either not compatible or it does not have the relevant bootmii files in correct locations.

If you get one flash and then another 30 seconds later then you cannot.
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.

My bootmii was installed as cIOS, not boot2.

So really... which is better to own, a new one or a used one? I want to softmod again. New one has a possibility of have 4.2x on it.

    Thanks!

Sounded like you might have had it installed as boot2 from some of the posts above. I did think it strange that you'd given up on it.

If the used one is over a year old it may have the capability to take a bootmii/boot2 install, then again it could be one that's newer and you'll be taking a used one for only a small reduction in price and great reduction in warranty. Not sure where these shops get their stock of old Wiis from but I do know they make a nice profit on the whole thing. I Bet they don't pay 169 for them :P

if you have as a boot2, then couldnt you go right into the HBC and install a WAD for ios60? That would fix it easily.
