4.2 throws out some issues but overall you can get them to pretty much do anything any other Wii could do with 4.1 or down. You just shouldn't update to 4.2 if you can help it.

Given the choice of a 3.2 Wii with boot2 over a 4.2 brand new I'd probably go for the 3.2.
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.

you may have helped me decide.. so on more question. If you are between 3.3 and up, you can't install as boot2?

See, if i get a used one, i doubt they will let me turn it on and check out the firmware, tho i could try. So is that the main difference? Can say... a 3.4 be boot2'd.

    Thanks!!

It was around that time, June ish 2008 that they blocked the boot2 possibility. You could have a 4.0/4.1 though with boot2 as well, it could just have been updated there before selling it to the shop. You won't know until running the hackmii installer.

I also noticed that some of the new ones have a different DVD drive in it that won't allow for reading of DVD-R, which is what i was doing. I do external HD's tho.

Ahh desicions desicions. I just wanna make the right call.

    Thanks
