You are probably not going to recover this Wii then. Removal of system IOS can only be fixed by boot2. Sorry.

    any other suggestions?

Just a thought, i have softmodded about 15 wii's with the twilight hack and always installed starfall, and have updated as time went on, can i use the y button on gc controler and the original twilight disk?

or would that have been deleted?

You can't autoboot anything without your System IOS you know. The Wii needs an IOS to do everything and to read a disc it needs one which you probably removed.

You can try as many things as you like, I know I would but at this time, given the information you have provided you look like having a low level full bricked Wii.

Think of it like a PC running Windows without a Windows folder that can only be reinstalled by a special DVD drive you needed to install before you mucked things up.
