Tealc, I downloaded a put boot.dol in root and IOS38-64-v3610.wad in wad folder.
Installed/Ran boot.dol and the cISO intaller loaded, at this point the remote loses sync and you can't change the option or confirm (I gather at this point we were to choose ISO38?).

I have read this elsewhere about loosing sync and having to use a gc controller (we don't have one), does this relate here?

kaiserlucifer our menu is at 50, what risk do you run by randomly selecting a number?

Unless you can find a gamecube modifed cIOS38rev14 installer I don't believe that will work. I've never heard of one, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

If you already have cIOS installed then you need to use IOS249 to install the new cIOS, otherwise run TBR tutorial to get your first cIOS http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...0-4-1-wii.html

Why your Wiimote would lose sync is a mystery to me.
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.

Tealc please ignore any ignorance I'm still understanding the lingo.

I believe cIOS has been installed as this was part of the original steps

    'Install the CIOSv7.wad.'

So we should be able to choose the ISO249 from installer and there is no reason why the wiimote should be unresponsive?

Hi, I am having exactly the same problem, but I can get myself into the HBC. System Menu wad won't install though. I can install/uninstall any other wads but I don't know where the problem lies. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Miegs,

I don't believe that there is any risk in choosing different IOS's to load. If it is not a bootable IOS, the corrupted wii files message will show up, and if it is then the wii menu should show up. In both cases nothing is written to disk.

kaiserlucifer nice one, changing to 36 allowed the menu to load. We put wii sports in and it asked for an update. Should we run that?

Then from here what is the best instructions to follow to softmod, Homebrew channel was still there but hadn't tried accessing it.

Hopefully this is a step towards correction.

I'm sorry, I'm not quite sure what you mean. if you have preloader and hbc installed, then i assume you've used some exploit(bannerbomb, indiana pwns, etc). So what are you referring to when you say softmod?

When you say update do you mean the nintendo update or something else? If you are not on system menu 4.2, do not use the official updater to get it. Doing so will probably delete your homebrew and possibly brick your wii. Since I was on 4.2 before modding my wii, I never had to do a safe update and so I'm not sure how it's done, but there are lots of guides on safely updating.

Yes I downloaded a 4+ softmod package with instructions, that is what got us into the mess ;-)

The Current System Menu is showing as 3.4E.
Homebrew Channel loads upside down, I have seen some posts to fix this so will look into it.

    miegs,

The upside down thing is caused by installing a cIOS, you can fix it by reinstalling hbc. I'm not sure if this is what's causing problems for you, but it has been my experience that the packages available to "fully" softmod your wii are dangerous because you can't ensure that it was meant for your system menu.

Reading your original post I see you meant getting backups to load when you said softmod. Assuming you've installed your cIOS properly (using trucha to downgrade IOS15, installing the patched IOS to 36 and then restoring IOS15 followed by running the ios38 application), you should be able to run the backup loader install from hbc and be good to go.
