well just did something stupid to my wii i installed the newest update for the wii and it stopped all my games from working so i downgraded it and had my wii workin but couldnt get punch out to work so i used Waninkokos 4.0 updater thinking it would help me. i saw preloader and was kinda in a hurry and thought that ill install it after i updated it (yeah made sense to me at the time now i realize what a jack ass i was) after using the updater i now have black screen o' death! so now i have some stupid questions that i searched that were not exactly answered.
can i use my drivekey to load a dvd and install a new firm?
because i have one installed and have a gamecube controller in the mail.
OR is this Black screen mean its junk??
please help me sorry if it had been explained before (couldnt find anything)

If your savemii is not triggering the recovery screen then no amount of drivekey or modchips will help recover your Wii system. I'm a little unclear what went wrong with your upgrade-downgrade-upgrade but a black screen normally means a lack of workable system menu.
Don't beat yourself up about preloader as it wouild have been wiped when you updated to Waninkoko 4.0 anyway.
You should have called this thread Squish72's brick, it's not Waninkoko's fault you bricked your Wii.
Anyway firmware updater 4.0 is not generally brick making unless of course you neglected to install IOS60patched before updating. Did you?
Bootmii/boot2 would be very useful right now. Failing that you are looking at the bin for disposal or Nintendo for a repair.

Did you try starting your Wii with the Wiimote power button?
Wait on the GC controller to check for savemiifrii.

Third party one should be fine to do savemiifrii by the way.
If it works you'll get your System Menu version appear as text in the bottom right of the screen. For more info see youtube as there are a few videos showing it.
