Semi-Brick No Homebrew but has Wiikey

I Semi-bricked my wii installing the 4.0 Pal firmware from punch out on my US wii and not scrubbing the disc, having homebrew installed like bootmii, or anything smart like that. The wii works fine playing games but I can't access the internet or system menus at all through it.

I have an original wii key installed but again no homebrew. I remember some people being able to fix their semibricked wiis back in the day by updating to the latest firmware in their region from a disc.

4.2 has recently been released however it can only be obtained at the moment through a system update. So I was wondering, providing this method still works, if there was a way to put 4.2 on a disc to update or if I'm stuck waiting for the 4.2 firmware to be included in a game (Im keeping my fingers crossed for new super mario brothers).

Any tips, comments, and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

If you want to update from disk, rent NSMB and update to 4.1.

You can also fix it by softmodding your wii.

So you think, when I buy NSMB in a shop, that the setup will ask me again for a update?
Are you sure it updated to 4.1 and not to 4.2?

    Thanks in advance

Ok, Thanks for the quick response!

Does it also work with another game when I want to fix the problem.

How can I know which game includes an update?

    Thanks!

If you have an iso on your pc you can use
    Wii Update Manager
    or
    Wiiscrubber

To view what updates are on the ios.

NSMB is the only one I know of with 4.1, but I am sure there are others.

Here is a partial list of disk updates

    Hello,

    Thanks for all the information.

    I don't understand all the versions/updates/upgrades/firmwire's.
I don't understand the deference between all of this.

Could somebody tell me in short steps what I should to to enable my settings menu??

I have a Wii + Wasabi chip and I ran the game : new super mario bros (nsmb fix). So now my settings menu is blocked. I live in Belgium, so I need PAL.

    Thanks

The only way to fix it is to wait for a new game to be release with 4.2e update on it. That could be awhile.

If your in a hurry do steps1-3 from the 3.1-4.1 guide linked below

Once done use wadmanager using ios249 to install
    Ios60patched from the 3.1-4.1 guide
    then after that
    install system menu 4.1e

Then start blocking updates so this does not happen again. Preloader works very well. Or perhaps your chip can block updates, or you could brickblock the iso before you burn it.
