Problem. I think I have full brick, I have NAND backup but after restoring it I only get black screen. I can go to HBC and do stuff there but I can't get to system menu and none of my wiimotes connect. System menu was 4.2e IIRC, any advice for unbricking?

    need help!
I have a full brick wii. bootmii is in boot2 is installed. but no working NAND backup.
try cboot2 install like described in the tut. both did not work for me (WAD Manager 1.4 and 1.5).
try FAT and FAT32 for both - nothing.

during startup it loads the IOS 36 v16 succssesfully - then nothing. (no WAD Manager)

WiiRemote isn't working anymore. HBC is bootable but no apps - only bubbles.
I can turn on Wii with the remote but after that - nothing.

before brick I was on 4.2E (Wanikoko update) and everything running fine.
I want to start u-sing over softchip and got the 001 error (it seems like cIOS rev 15 failure)
I uninstalled cIOS rev 15 over the CustomIOS uninstaller after that no WAD Manager, dopIOS or cIOS installer rev 14 working anymore.

after 2 more reboots also HBC shows no apps. only black screen after boot.

I also tested betwiin I create several NAND that matches with my boot1b boot2v2. (everytime must do the HEX copy of the first 1024 byte with the working NAND - otherwise I got the boot1 is different message) But WiiNand shows me that the nands will match) - think is the betwiin error.

Everytime the same issue - restoring successfully but no boot - only black screen.
Now I was able to change between different firmware versions (shown in bootmii).

something makes me wondering - during restore the NAND with bootmii everytime the first (~10 cluster?) are not been restored (grey).

I read several thread but without success. also I read this thread completly but I found no failure matching mine.

HBC shows me that it's installed on IOS 36 v4.18 (it's also shows me now the prescreen - after pressing A on my Thrustmaster (wireless GC clone) (because WiiRemote isn't working) i come to HBC (but no apps)

now I am on 3.1E (shown in bootmii).

what can I do to unbrick the Wii?

thanks for all reply and sry for my english

Is your SD card less than 2GB? You could also try having HBC load from a USB device.

Wireless GC controllers are not the best for controlling with bootmii. Wired controllers work.

I don't know if Wad manager mod for gamecube controller will work with wireless controllers.

Removing cIOS was a mistake, I'm sure you know. No useful app will now work. You will need to install this again, perhaps you need to run Trucha Bug restorer to get cIOS again.

size of SD is 2GB. what must I do to run HBC from USB?

the problem is not the gc - wad manager did not start! only the first message that ios load but now wad manager.

what can I do to fix the WiiRemote got to work?

    thanks for your answer Tealc

Wiimote will not work while under boot2 loading control, even through HBC.

WAD manager may require you to have cIOS installed, many times the application will freeze if cIOS is not installed. You may have luck with an older version of WAD manager that was used before Trucha Bug was fixed.

Ultimately a system IOS and System Menu re-install using Wad manager mod (for GC use) should fix this Wii. It's hard to tell with a restore but this usually works. Here's a GC modded Wad manager wad-manager-1.4.Sorg.wiiNinja.mod2.rar

I try to replace the WAD manger in the link u give me with the one that cames with the package sonic posts at the beginning of this thread. - but did not load the manager.

the think I don't understand is how this bootmii replacement works. If you unpack the downloaded file from sonic you have a bootmii folder, an ios folder (I also replace the files there with different ones - evertime the same issue - only the first message "successfully loaded IOS 36..."), the startup.elf and the boot.dol.

normally it must be possible to load the wad manager (I think it is the boot.dol).
so in this boot method there is no custom IOS and the wad manager should boot.

people tell in this thread that they also have only the black starting screen and bootmii in boot2.

what could be the reason that the wad manager did not start?
it seems that the booting stops before loading the wadmanager dol file.

    any idea?

Yes. This thread is for full bricks aka black screen bricks. Boot2 is a requirement of the routine to recover the Wii. Perhaps it also should state that cIOS249 is also required but I think in 99.9% of cases people would have this.

Deleting cIOS has really compromised you.

You could try cIOS installer booting.

Download this file cIOS38_rev14-Installer.rar and place the boot.dol at root, along with the IOS38xxxx.wad on your SD card.

Then allow cboot2 to launch the cIOS installer at Wii startup.

I did the replacement of the "original" boot.dol with the cIOS one. - the same. only got the "IOS36 loaded" screen.

so I make a test. deleted the boot.dol, the WAD directory and the 000001 dir. only the startup.elf and the bootmii dir are now on the sd card.
then I boot into the bootmii replacement.

the result was the same - only the "IOS 36 successfully" screen came.
IMHO it seems that my wii only boots the startup.elf and then freeze.

I try to press all button on the GC but without any result.

what did this startup.elf load? It seems that is one of the IOS on the NAND. (or only the boot.dol?)
if so - can someone reprogramm the elf that the elf only load IOS from the sd - only an idea.

btw - do you know anyone with the same problem?
