I gave up on my bricked KR Wii with the 003 error.
I traded it in to a local game shop & paid the $115 extra for a used 4.0u
drivekey & wasabi both said they've got nothing that will work with my old D3-2 drive.
After that & Nintendo telling me they won't fix it even if I paid them too, I decided to do the trade-in
at first I was beginning to think I wasted $115 getting the used 4.0u model, because it would not play ANY of the discs I brought from Asia
Finally after installing HBC 1.0.6 & backing up the NAND I was able intall CIOS 14, NeoGamma & Pre-Loader .30
the disc channel still doesn't work with not even a single disc of mine, but NeoGamma does, so that's my first icon now in the system menu. I moved the disc channel onto the 2nd page so it's out of sight & out of mind.
but, I still do have some little issues that bug me.
After all that messing about with pre-loader setting the hacks to skip the Health Warnings etc. it still shows those when I use NeoGamma to load a game.
I'm sure it's because I'm not using the system menu's disc channel, so maybe I just have to put up with it.
Does anyone know a way I can get the disc channel working with my out of region games again ?
The pre-loader is supposed to do this, but it appears not to be doing the trick.
I HAVE set it to be region free in pre-loader, but still can't use disc channel.
"unable to read disc"
I was never able to get the recovery screen to appear on my old bricked 4.2 kr, but it might have been because I was using a GameStop knock-off instead of a real Nintendo GC controller.
oh, BootMii menu doesn't come up for me any longer either. It blanks the screen for a bit then comes back to HBC.
maybe that's where I should be trying to set region-free, in BootMii
Anyone know how to get BootMii menu working again ?
I used dog_eggs tutorial on here for the road to curing my 4.0u of it's region issue via NeoGamma & also updated it to 4.1u & got the weather forecast & news channels working too.
haven't tried the Nintendo channel yet, but if it wants me to update, not only NO, but HELL NO ! ! !

Reason: I hate looking at my keyboard... so sometimes I type some letters instead of others...
the chip merchants I emailed came back with NO about the idea of booting a 003 bricked Korean unit with DriveKey
Wasabi said the same thing about their new DX chip.
The best one for you IMHO is WiiKey Fusion.
I am still interested to hear your results. You might get lucky, but for me I was FCUKED due to the added insult of having a D3-2 drive which is an extra little hassle that won't work with Wasabi DX or the new DriveKey.
maybe there is a solution
use a GC controller in port 4
you could get to the recover screen
if you get to that screen use a nand backup to restor your system
if you don't have one
maybe some one here can help you
with best regard
maybe I am just being thick here, but how do you load a NAND restore from the recovery screen ?
I couldn't get my old bricked Wii to even enter that recovery screen & when I could on the new one I can't navigate to anything, just a black screen with 4.1(USA) in the bottom right corner.
Are you sarcastic or what?
Nirvana would thank you like this:

I'm still waiting for the drivekey... and in the meanwhile I've bought a new Wii (that has 3.3E on board but no way to install bootmii as boot2) for just 159€!!!!
But I'm still trying to recover the error 003... I hope drivekey is the key!
