    @bdw,
b4 u desolder (which is not recommended) or replacing the mother-fxx-board, google for Infectec, it may do the job for NAND flashing.
yet, u need to identify the console_ID of urs before u "may" flash someone else's in. otherwise, there may be a potential "SHOPPING/ OnLine " problem with Ninty in future; i guess.

whatever the DVD-Rom model would not directly help solving the #003. it just contribute the "load-read" of disc. u could save ur $ by borrowing a DVD-Rom fm friends.

    btw, u photo didn't include the D3/nothing dvd-rom unit. wasn't it ?

finding someone else's nand to copy is not an option I'm afraid. I'm in the boonies here & no one else has a Wii & there's no shops that will service them. I'm not worried about Shopping or Nintendo channel on Wii as I NEVER plan to go online with my Wii again (if I ever get it working again)

again, borrowing from friends is not an option.
I considered buying a D3/D2nothing drive to get around the fact that Wasabi DX & DriveKey do not yet support the D3-2 drives like mine & WiiKey Fusion isn't released yet, but as long as my mainboard is dead there's no reason to

Hi billyhome... actually I can't boot anything on my kor Wii 4.2US.
    Other things that I've done:
    1) Yesterday I took another working Wii (KOR with 3.2USA), installed in my Wasabi DX, and the most of autoboot disks don't autoboot at all (I've already tried with sd in or not). The only disks that would autoboot are: nintendo backup disk v1.31 (from nintendo) and Super smash bros brawl (pal version mod ntsc (with Wii Iso Utility) and autoboot (with Bootme) (and the smash stack does not work!)). When I've done the same stuff on my wii, the Nintendo backup disk just keeps spinning while SSBB stops after a while.
    2) The Wasabi dx works only in US mode (in both korean wii). If I try to use the kor settings it stays there as if it was not there! I've managed to install the firmware 2.0beta, but I can't enter its settings/config menu. Actually, restarting the wii and pressing eject three times, makes appear a GC disk in the drive (the drive is empty) and starting it (now the config page should appear) just loads what seemes to be a uneuseful wii gator GC bakcup launcher v1.2). So I can't set the autoboot function on.
    I'm out of ideas now!
I think that the only thing that might work could be something like an original korean game with something higher than fw 4.2k in it.
So I think I will have to wait a loooooong time before seeing my wii working again.
    thanks Nintendo!

looking at your picture, I have your same drive. Wasabi dx works, but you have to set it to work for your system menu region, i.e. if you have a korean wii with us system, set it to us, not kor. But it won't load anything (or this is what happens to me! sorry)

here's what I've found in another forum

After several tests we can confirm the rumor about the new firmware 4.2 from NINTENDO breaking imports. We strongly recommend everyone to not proceed with the upgrade 4.2 as it removes the ability to play any import at all due to a new check. This is the same for every other mod chip on the market. The R&D team are working on it and soon as more news coming out, the web site will be updated with all needed informations.

Please frequently visit our web site for more information.

Wasabi Wii Modchip - Compatible with DMS, D2A, D2B, D2C, D2C2, D2E - Upgradable from DVD - Simply the best

This was a couple of weeks ago. As of today, still no update on their website.

if anyone of you has good news, feel free to share with us your informations!
    thanks

    Sue them!

Dude, you and all others with this error should sue Nintendo for that. It doesn't matter if your console was modified or not. Once Nintendo decided to update it, if something strange was detected they should just stop and let it the way it was. They could even say that it was out of warranty from now due to unauthorized modification but never brick it! It was your property in your house damaged on purpose by Nintendo. So sue them!

I got a similar message from Wasabi about their DX chip & was suprised that Salvo_B was able to get anywhere with one installed.

I can't even get the gamecube controller (generic from GameStop) to bring up the recovery screen

I'm surprised you weren't able to load something from SD like in the following guides :

    http://www.wiihacks.com/bricked-wii-...-your-wii.html

    http://www.wiihacks.com/general-home...ions-ioss.html

I consider going to buy a new Wii today, but afraid I won't even be able to soft-mod it, as I never was able to install the latest version of HomeBrew in my current Wii due to it being a Boot2V4
& now I guess installing a modchip is out of the question until they create one that's able to over-ride this Error 003 BRICK & is compatible with the D3-2 drives

    Lightbulb

maybe good or maybe bad news.... for all of you.
    reading a thread on
    GBAtemp
I've found that maybe there is someone that was able to at least use his Wii in someway to play games...
It's all about smash stack, a mod chip and stuff on your sd.
this link will let you download the stuff needed to be able to unbrick your wii
there's a readme file inside... read it carefully!
so if this may help anyone of you,
thanks goes to illinialex24 from GBAtemp!

The point is that I can't make anything start from my wii with wasabi dx...
maybe a drivekey might work... maybe!

Talking Error 003 solution for lucky guys

    good evening everybody!!!!
this will be a solution... or maybe not!!
it's always about the way illinialex24 says that he fixes the ERROR:003
he also posted this a self explanotory video on how everything should be done...
So if you have the DriveKey modchip you may be lucky!
I've bought a Wasabi DX and it does not work with 4.2 (I've also sent a mail to the Wasabi team and they replied with the same mail that was posted by itgl).
reading around, I've found this thread by annunaki where I've read that if you have a drivekey on system 4.2, then you can load only the games for your region.
So... if you have a brick with Error 003: bla bla bla, and if when you go in the recovery menu in the bottom right corner you see 4.2US, and if you have a copy of Super Smash Bros Brawl (NTSC-U), and you have a drivekey installed... then you might be the one who can tell us if this thing worked with your bricked wii...
So, if this works... then tell us if we have any chance to revive our Korean Wii bricked with 4.2US!
    Thanks,
    Sal
