is my Wii bricked?

I was trying out loading Wii games with a USB loader (worked great). after that I went into the wii system menu and it was loading slower than usual and my version (3.2E) was not showing up on the upper right as it usually does. if my memory serves correctly I read somewhere on here that that could mean my Wii is semi-bricked now. is it or what does the not showing up of my version mean?

It could mean your system menu is corrupt. Although if thats the only problem plus a little slower maybe its worth leaving alone.
You could reload the system menu, the link is in my sig. (you happen to be on the same menu as me. You will have to reinstall Preloader if you do that, only if you had it previously.

I figured I'd just leave it and wait for a bigger problem to fix it.

what is preloader? Never used it before.

Its a very useful program that helps to recover the Wii if you have problems.
It loads before the system menu, you then can select what you want to load, System menu, HBC or a loader. You hold down reset at poweron to get the menu.

There is also Boomii, this is brick prevention software. I have both, no I'm not paranoid, just careful.
The link in my sig to HBC includes bootmii.
Read up on it first before using.

you dont need to brickblock iso's if your using them in a usb loader, WBFS manager and your USB loader will automagically remove the update and any useless information from the iso. Loaders (USB and DISC) will ignore any updates anyway, its only when running via the disc channel (cioscrap or modchip) that you should ever see an update (although most chips can be set to ignore updates)

didn't know that. paranoid me just had to make absolutely sure. so updates only work through the official wii disc channel, always? how come so many people manage to brick their Wiis? seems like most softmodders use backup launchers.

cioscorp, its just fail!

badly setup modchip.

cIOScorp allows you to play backups from the disc channel, so, you can end up with out of region updates bricking your wii.

You could also run a legit game, but from a different region.

If you use CIOSCorp, you're basically lazy and can't wait another 10 seconds to use a loader to play your game.

At least, that's my opinion on it.
