I just called the Customer Service number mentioned on Wii Website and was clearly told that nothing can be done to get the error:003 fixed and that I have no option but to buy a new Wii.

also have same 003 error and my is from korea change region to US i did a update to 4.2 and bricked. i have there homebrew and neo gamma R6 ios249 REV13 it's softmod i post nintendo and they say because you are in different region

The error code indicates the Wii console was manufactured for a region that is not compatible with the Wii System Menu 4.2 update. I’m sorry to report that this incompatibility has made the system unplayable and that neither Nintendo nor its distributors is able to repair these systems.



I realize you may not have been aware your system was manufactured for another region. I can only recommend that you to contact the retailer or individual who sold it to you in order to resolve the situation.

Ok I have done lot's of reading and I can't seem to find the info I need.
My wii is bricked after update to 4.2 The screen went black during the update.
Has not worked again. I have a d2pro chip homebrew with bootmii Iso. I have tried Gc controller mod but no luck. Is there any hope?
Or is it toast. I do not have backup.

Hi All

I got the replacement motherboard for my Korean Wii from China today (eBay UK :[Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]).

Fitting it is not for the feint hearted! But luckily I am an electronics hobbist. Even so I have 3 screws left over LOL.

It was advertised as a UK version but after booting I find that it is a USA version, firmware 3.1U, which is okay as I don't live in the UK anyway.

It has Homebrew installed (and Hackmii) but as it didnt come with the SD card does not work properly (Homebrew wants to do an update).

Before I brick it (again) could some kind person direct me to the best procedure to get it working with Homebrew, Hackmii and Backup Launcher?

update the HBC, no problem.... does it have bootmii boot2? you can always follow the 3.1-4.1 guide
