I bricked my wii - please help

    Please help

Followed the guide for softmodding and the video as above (very well done). Followed step by step and didn't miss anything (all went well) However when i get to the rebooting at the final stage i get 'system files corrupted'. I tried just reinstall preloader, but that didn't work and I then tried reinstalling my system menu (v386) but that didn't work either.

I am basically stuck on the preloader screen

At the bottom of the screen i have:
    ----------------------
    Error autobooting system menu!
    SetUID failed

    IOS v50
    systemmenu v 0
    ----------------------------

If i try accessing Homebrew channel i get

Error autobooting HBC, maybe title not installed?

I was thinking it was maybe bricked so tried copying the bootmii folder and NAND backup onto your card, do steps a) & b) again, using Preloader to get to HBC if necessary, then select the icon with the arrow going from the SD card to the chip. However when i do this it says

    "NAND backup from another Wii"

    EXIT is only option

    -------------------

This is following information i was given in the softmod thread by Messie

"Then you lied and did not follow the guide... preloader cannot be installed in v386 which is 3.4, only 4/4.1... that means you have a nice white brick by your TV. Only option now is to restore nand, but a bug prevents it from installing. Start a thread i the bricked wii section and you will get help there ok? Don't worry it is recoverable"

    Any advice please.

Interesting. The NAND backup thing is a bug in bootmii beta version 3.

    IOS v50
    System menu v0

I wonder what these value are on a working Wii, not having preloader myself. Edit: Checked youtube and for 3.4 it should say IOS50 System Menu v384, v385 or v386

Whatever you did to install systemmenu v386 didn't work...or...your sys conf is corrupt and pointing to a null value.

I recommend installing v386 again, I'm assuming you are 3.4PAL. If you can't load boot.dol with preloader you can use cboot2 to load boot.dol as described in the thread below.

If that fails then you should look into your sys conf. There was a thread on here a little while back where a guy had a corrupted sys conf file that was fixed quite simply in the end. Have a good read through this thread and in particular this page which has a solution http://www.wiihacks.com/bricked-wii-...eogamma-4.html -- I don't think this is the case but could be wrong--

I have no idea why preloader works as it is not functional on IOS50. Maybe you have IOS60 installed or something from the tutorial.

Well I'm going on the information you provided. You install SystemMenu v386 for a 3.4 PAL so one must assume you know what you are doing, otherwise who'd be mental to pick a system menu at random.

Where do you live? Have you ever updated your Wii? When did you buy your Wii?

Anyway -1022 is normally an error caused by cIOS issues. You'll need to run TBR somehow http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...s-any-wii.html

You should be able to verify what you have by holding down Up, Down , Left and Right on the D pad of a Gamecube controller plugged in port 4 while switching on. Search savemiifrii on youtube if you have one.

    ok thanks

Live in UK, never updated wii and bought it about 6 months ago, but it was preowned from new by someone else for about 9 months.

I have no access to a gamecube controller.

Will read the link provided. Thanks so far for you help.

not sure how but i "appear" to have a fully functioning wii again!

I basically left it last time (as a last resort) trying to upgrading the Firmware to 4.1 again (which it did) and rebooted and it appears to be all well again. I have normal menu plus neogamma loader etc!!!

Will check it out fully in the morning but all appears ok. Original games work etc etc. Will report fully over next day or so.

Thanks for all the help so far and will confirm

What do you mean again? You've already tried updating to 4.1?

Yes, there is a fix-you have to use a hex editor and insert a space where one is missing in text and insert the value of 20 for the space in the associated hex value fields and copy all the hex value fields into a new window. Not something I think we routinely want to try to lead some of our members through.

Interesting that we are still seeing that problem when the new hackmii.3 was issued over 2 weeks ago to take care of that.
