    Unhappy semi-brick and system memory

I managed to semi-brick (at least I think that's what the system menu error is called) my Wii and it also tells me I need to free up system memory every time it's at the main menu.

This happened after running an update which did not finish because the Wii rebooted itself before finishing.

I show 250 blocks free in Data Management yet everytime I reboot it tells me to free more.

I have a first gen Wii with first gen WiiKey, in case that matters. I do not have brick protection installed .

Anyone have suggestions or advice? I found guides on unbricking but I can't get to my HBC.

so its telling you to delete stuff even though you have free space? if its not to much just delete everything and try? or copy your stuff over and delete it off your NAND. It sounds like its getting confused by some sort of hack.

    This time i made sure....

If you have no brick protection installed (as you said), try bannerbomb on your wii to install bootmii or something and since you have an old Wii, it gets installed into boot2 and something from there might be able to help. I'm not completely sure though because I haven't gone through to explore every single option that bootmii has to offer.

Thanks for the replies and advice.

Bannerbomb looks promising. If I were able to install bootmii from that, would I be able to launch bootmii without going to the main menu?

If you install it to boot2 you will definetly be able to from what I know and you will be able to access the HBC channel as well. That's the usefullness of bootmii in a nutshell: it saves your wii from TOTAL doom (unless you done somthing really retarded)
