Universal Unbrick Disk v2 Questions - Banner Bricked Wii

Hey everybody, I soft modded my Wii (4.0u) about 2 weeks ago and just now (and very stupidly) installed my very own, custom made wad, thinking I had bootmii installed. And now I am on a quest to unbrick it.

My first line of action is the Universal Unbrick Disk v2. However, I have a couple of questions about this program...

Firstly, the files that I located on it (2 exactly) seem to have EXTREMELY big iso's. About 4.7gb! Is this really the size?

Next, I was wondering what special things you must do in order for it to work. For example, do I have to rename it, is it an autoboot or do I have to find a way to make it so, does it have to go in the recovery menu, and does it need to go on a specific dvd (-,+,r,rw)?

The last thing I request is tips to if the UUDv2 doesn't work. What should be my next course of action? Extensive detail would be widely appreciated.

Thanks for all of the hard work/useful tips!

The unbrick discs conform to the Wii DVD size requirement of 4.37GB and like Wii discs contain a load of rubbish data with a tiny amount of useful data.

The .rar download for the Universal Unbrick Disc v2 is only 5.2MB while when extracted it will fill a single sided DVD.

You just burn the iso using Imgburn at 2x or 4x, as you would any other Wii backup. DVD-RW provide better compatibility but +RW probably works for the one off.

As it's a banner brick with luck you should be able to load the recovery menu using savemiifrii and provided you have a modchip or cioscorp installed you'll be able to autoboot the disc.

Use a gamecube controller plugged into port 4 and press Up, Down, left and right on the D pad at the same time.

There are a few threads dealing with Banner brick recoveries, it will certainly be worth your time looking through them in some detail.
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.

Can the Universal Unbrick Disk v2 run off of the recovery menu without a mod chip? I've also heard that this whole program might just be one big joke. Have there been any success stories for using the UUDv2 on a Wii?

The unbrick disc isn't a "real" disc, its just some sysmenu data packed on a fakesigned iso, which just updates your sysmenu to 3.2
It's been a while since 3.2, you'd have better luck using an official gamedisc + autoboot.

    Help

Hi Guys, I also have a banner bricked wii. It occur after I installed a bad channel through wad installer.

    I have wii 4.0U version
    No mod chip, just softmod
I just installed the new IOS so that I could use uLoader 3.0B by Hermes

Here's my problem, I've tried following the instruction with Universal Unbrick Disk V2 method. So recently I went to Game Stop to buy an original GC controller. I noticed how the thread mentioned it has to be a modded GC controller, so what do I have to do to mod the controller so that it can unbrick my wii?

In addition, I had installed Bootmii before on the wii as a boot2, but I change the setting of the bootmii later so that the system menu is loaded instead of bootmii. I did not make a nan backup. Is there anyway to get bootmii to load first again? I tried changing the bootmii.ini file so that it loads before the system menu but was unsuccessful.

If someone can provide help on what I need to do to mod my GC controller plus further instruction on how to unbrick my wii using Universal Unbrick Disk V2, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks all.

you need to make sure you have your SD-Card with your Bootmii files on in the wii when it boots.

I think Tealc has the files linked in his sig (click the big picture ), put these on your SD and restart your wii.

Hi, I tried to installed bootmii on my other wii as well just to get the files for the sd card. I installed it as a boot2 as well and also made a nan backup for that one. But when i put that SD card on my wii, nothing happens, it still load the warning screen and the black screen.

And in regard to the GC controllers, everywhere I read it mention that pressing all the directional pad at the same time will load the version of your wii. But when I did it, it make no difference; it still only display the warning screen followed by the black screen. So I'm assuming that the directional pad thing only work with modded GC controllers?
