    Thumbs down Completely Dead Wii

    My fault entirely !

I had Homebrew on my Wii, USB backup loaders etc, and all worked fine - then for some reason, I decided to try a different backup loader, and started installing Cios38 Rev 14 (had V9), and that where my troubles started.

The USB Loader no longer recognised my drive - rather than simply go back to V9, I decided (unwisely) to downgrade me Wii back to a Virgin State (3.2E)

This was ok, until I realised that I had installed the American Menu (3.2U) - I inserted my brought copy of Virtua Tennis, to be told that I needed to update to menu 4.1.

No problem I thought, but 15 seconds into the update, a dead Wii - nothing at all.

Unless I am wrong, the American updates conflicted with the disk upgrade.

The result of this is that I have a completely useless Wii. I can turn it on, but get nothing displayed. No lights, nothing.

I assume this means It's now an expensive doorstop. Hard lesson to learn, and one that has cost me a new one.

Question though - it is still in guarantee - should I swallow my pride and accept I have a lot of spares now, or is it worth sending it back under guarantee ? - Remember though, the Wii now believes it is a cross between an American and a British Wii !

Motto of the story - dont muck about unless you know what you are doing !

The Wii is probably full bricked in two ways.

    1. Region bricked.

    2. Stub IOS50 brick (depends on which tutorial to downgrade you followed)

Techincally a softmod invalidates your warranty because you are running homebrew code but in it's completely screwed state you might get away with a warranty return.

    Have you tried savemiifrii yet?
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.

    Thanks for the reply

Have not tried savemiifrii yet, but will investigate (sounds like I need a Gamepad, which I dont have).

I did manage to downgrade it successfully, and homebrew was removed before screwing it up, so it sounds like I will try for a warranty return and see what they say.

They can either do it, or return it to me. Suppose on the bright side, I will have spare parts !

    I downgraded using Dogeggs' tutorial ( http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...ii-virgin.html
