Bricked wii. Help needed because this is a bad one

Just picked bought a wii that is bricked. I have managed to install the homebrew channel again from the system menu. But I'm having major problems.

Problem 1. From the system menu, if I select system menu, I get an error saying something like

    Error autobooting system menu!
    Ticket not found

Problem 2, when I select the homebrew channel, it is blank, there is nothing in even though I have got stuff on my sd card such as wad manager, cIOS installer etc.

The wii in question has beebn softmodded at some point and then reformatted, thats all the info Ive got at present. Can anyone help, Im in a fix here and in need of some help. Thanks guys, I know Ive come to the right place..................hopefully

I'll have a go. So I put the downgrader on my sd card and use the preloader to run it. How do I do that exactly?

download the cios downgrader, but put the .dol file on the root of the SD card and rename it boot.dol, then use preloader to run from file

Ive sorted it. I had installed preloader but when I was going to my homebrew channel, it was blank even though my sd card was full. What I failed to realise was that because I had previously installed preloader, I was able to hold rest and power my machine on. This took me to the preloader screen. I loaded the boot.dol up from the load file and this installed the homebrew channal again. I still could not see anything on my sd card. I decided to do a full format to my sd card. I formatted again to FAT, put everything back on my sd card and bingo, I had everyhing on it that I wanted. I downloaded the stuff from the youtube vid and placed the IOS30-64-v1040 and SystemMenu-v290.wad files into wad folder. Went to wad manager which I could now see on my card and, yes, my wii came back to life. Thanks for the help guys, you helped to get me out of a tight spot. I'll know what I am doing next time I softmod a wii and of course NOT what to do, which I think is important. Thanks once again guys
