I agree, why risk so much when you only see your menu for a couple of seconds and 99% of the time your playing a game.
Ok I have been out and purchased a new wii today ver 3.1E, I have used bannerbomb to install Homebrew, It allowed me to install HBC, DVDX but would not install Bootmii ???
Any reason for this?
Also can someone please give me simple instructions into how I can update to 4.1 is it safe to do this straight through the wii menu? Also I want to make sure that I can recover from a brick if I am unlucky enough to get another, What are NANDS and do I need preloader and bootmii?
Ive read somewhere that I need to backup NANDS on an SD card and keep it safe

It'll usually let you install as boot2 or IOS.
Follow the tutorial, search 4.1 update on Wiihacks. Not really. Yes you do, both if you can only do bootmii/IOS.
[Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register], Wii has 512MB of it. We generally refer to NANDS in it's singular form, NAND.
Yes a good idea.

I to have my wii bricked by installing theme, but I can get savefrii going.. I do get that 4.0U at the bottom corner of my screen.. also I burned Zelda did a bootme on it and it booted so I managed to play that.. but for some reason I cant get anyregion to boot or Universal Unbrick Disc V2 and I do have a mod-chip.

There are several unbrick discs available. I have a few in my mediafire (click my sig).
The best way to solve a messed up theme though is probably a NAND restore from your boot2 install of bootmii, you did have bootmii/boot2 didn't you? Or a re-install of System Menu through bootmii/cboot2.

Built it a few weeks ago. After years of always buying mid-range and settling with low resolutions and low settings it's great to run everything at 1680 x 1050 and top spec, even got Crysis on max. Probably cost me about £1000 and I used some old components to complete the build, such as HDD and other drives.

I wish I can say "yes" to that.. but no lol... I was hoping that I can at least downgrade or something... but will check your sign. I made a mistake
not creating a backup or installing a preloader... hmm I think I did try installing bootmii once though.. cant remember if I got it installed or not.
