another black screen - still have sound, letterbomb hack error

i browsed the forum and i sort of know what to do but i need my own topic to explain exactly what i did. i began the letterbomb exploit and the screen went black and began installing. i misread the instructions and only copied the private folder to my sd card and i mistakenly forgot to also copy the boot.elf file onto the root of the sd. so when i clicked on the letterbomb, it made it to the point where it was looking for the boot.elf and said the file couldn't be found. so from that point, it was not going to go anywhere so i held down the power button and was going to attempt it again, this time with the boot.elf file on the sd card.

lo and behold my misstep led to the black screen. i still have sound and can blindly click on stuff, but that's no good.

this isn't even my wii. i was doing this as a favor to a friend and now i feel terrible. i know i have to take steps to fix this but i don't want to proceed any further until i'm absolutely sure.

    so to sum it up...

yes i have sound and wiimote abilities. and no, i have no visual. i don't know where to go next. even if someone reads this and refers me a link to the correct forum topic, as i'm sure exactly this has happened once or twice before. thanks.

Turn the wii off, unplug it for a few hours. Turn it back on and hope for the best. If that fails try switching from component cable to composite, or from composite to component. Let me know how it goes.

ok, very cool. i haven't tried that yet, but i brought it back to my place and plugged it in and it worked fine. i was able to get homebrew installed and everything. so i assume what you're telling me will work, otherwise i thought maybe it would be something like it switched video modes, but i don't think that's possible.
