Exclamation My friend has possibly bricked his Wii...

I have a good knowledge in wiis and them being bricked but this is weird.

My friend was hacking Mario Kart Wii like today and he turned off his Wii and then when he loaded it up it would give him a green and purple screen. He has a NTSU U Wii and he uses a Dazzle. He also uses a lot of hacks in Mario kart Wii. Can someone help him? I don't know a lot of what happend. You should probably ask him questions on YouTube his YT is bret36262vr

It's hard enough to troubleshoot a possible brick when we're dealing with the Wii owner. It will be almost impossible to have you play middle-man.

If he wants us to help him have a look at his system, he should be creating an account here to ask for it. None of the staff of this site will go to him. He has to come to us.

The way you describe it OP, sounds like the coloring is limited to that game. Try a different game and see if the color is normal. Also remove all splitter cabling and hook the Wii directly up to the TV to eliminate any issue with the dazzle capture card. Beyond that, just like llaffer says. Users come to the mountain --- the mountain doesn't come to the users

Green and purple screen at boot typically only happens on 4.0+ system menus when the language setting in sysconf has been modified to a language unknown to the system menu. Specifically this typically happens when the language settings is Korean on a non korean system menu, ussually from a failed region change, but a user could do it also by modifying the settings of any wii.

    Even non-soft modded? Fascinating feature.

You have to softmod to change language setting to one that is not supported by the wii system menu.

All the more reason for you to not be the middle man in this discussion. If he's "hacking a game", he's had to have modded his system in order to do it.

And if he's hacking while online, that sort of behavior is greatly frowned upon here. We're ok if you want to mess up your own game, but if you mess up someone else's potential enjoyment of the game for your 15 seconds of gratification, ... ugh.

He does hack online, he hacks the game to loose and gives people VR. He doesn't hack to win, neither do I.
