If the modchip is compatible with the wii's dvd drive, it should work.

i need some comments and direction to fix a bricked Wii.

    Background:
--Power on the Wii, Healt&Safety screen shows. Pressing 'A'-wiimote, the screen freezes
with an error message " Files does not work. Read Op Manual for insturctions.", white
    letters on black screen.
--Using GC controller, get into RM and shows 4.3x.
--Unlikely Priiloader was installed. HBC installed probably; but not accessible now.
--Swap dvd-rom with wasabi chip, it's able to load and play the (autoboot) Yu-Gi-OH.
    (i.e. 5D's Wheelie Breakers).
--Press HOME to exit, the Wii Menu screen flashes for less than half a second, then
froze with the same error message "Files does not work...", as before.
--Tried to load in autoboot B.L.I.N.D. disc, failed.

    The ACTs:
--looks like it's a THEME brick.
--a bad wad was installed. Wish to apply Any-Title-Deleter to clean the console.
--BUT, unable to access the HBC.
--then, apply MMM/Wad-Manager/BLIND to re-mod the console again.

may anyone enlighten me how to get into HBC, or load in MMM/Wad-Manager/BLIND at this
    stage ??

    Thank you.

The console is a Japanese Wii. So, the Jpn version Yu-Gi-OH (or say, 5D's Wheelie Breakers in Japanese) was loaded well and running fine.
Any idea for me to get into HBC, saving this "theme bricked" victim ?... please.

4.3j is bad news. Try the netflix disc, but it probably won't work. You could fix it with smashstack, but ssbb-j will not autoboot and ssbb-pal with not load on a wii with the jap language setting. So basically a theme bricked 4.3j without priiloader or a patched system ios can not be fixed. There may be hope, possibly the netflix disc will load the setting menu. There is one other possible solution, that would be a patched game ios, say ios36. If by change the wii had a patched ios36 installed you could autoboot a retail game that runs on ios36. Once that game was loaded you could either do the swap disc trick to load a patched recovery disc also running on ios36 or use a channel installing disc to install a wad. The two games the come to mind are SSBB-J, Mario Kart Jap, and Castlevania jap, these are the only know games running on ios36 AFAIK. Now SSBB-j will not autoboot, so don't try.

With Castlevania you could patch it to autoboot, then patch the B.L.I.N.D disc to have the same disc header (title id, disc name, region, ect) and patch it to run on ios36. You then load castlevania disc, load to the title screen. Once the title screen loads press home on the wiimote and eject the disc, then insert your B.L.I.N.D disc. Now press home again and go back to the title menu, timing is important, as soon as you go back to the game's title screen the B.L.I.N.D disc will spin up, you will hear a click and spin, as soon as you hear the disc spin up press home on the wiimote and click reset on the screen. If you had a patched ios36 the blind disc should load, if not you would get a disc read error or something. To make the blind disc take your patched castlevania disc, open that in wiiscrubber and replace the main.dol in the data partition with the boot.dol from blind or app of your choice.

With Mario Kart jap, you can do something similar. You use the channel installer to load another disc or install a wad. The disc has a data partition and a installer partition. You make a disc with the mario kart game in data, and a blank installer partiton. Then you take the Mario Kart iso and replace the main.dol in the data partition with the boot.dol of blind. You then make a new iso with a blank data partiton and an installer partiton that has you blind disc in it. You use wit to do this. You then load the MK disc, go to where you install the mk channel and click install. Then you click home on the wiimote, swap the disc, go back to the game, wait for the disc to spin up and quickly click the ok to install button. That should load the blind disc.

These ideas are found in the sticky for fixing from recovery menu, and error 003 fix. Specifically disc swap pwns, mario kart pwns, and the cioscorp fix method. Slightly modified, but the same idea. For you it would only work if you had a patched ios36, like from TBR. This is very possibly if you followed an older method to mod the wii. Unfortunately many newer guides do not patch ios36, but 236 instead.

Chew on that a bit and let me know if you need any more help, wit commands, etc. Also ios36 is just an example, since it is a common patch. But any patched ios that a game runs on would probably work. So if you have some other patched ios 30-60 then you could possibly use that.

4.3j is bad because you can't load ssbb-pal to run smash stack. 4.3u, 4.3e, 4.3k can all run smashstack from RM, but you can't do it with 4.3j.

If you had a savegame exploit installed on the wii, you could use that.

mauifrong, thank you very much for the detailed instructions.
yes, i'm thinking about to patch MK_jpn main.dol with the named tools (ie. B.L.I.N.D./MMM/Wmgr) and give it a try. Last year, I've played with the MK-SSBB Disc Swap pwns with a Wii of usa version; and the tasks were done successfully.

As the bricked Wii_jpn still plays the autobooted Yu-Gi-OH_jpn disc, I would also try to patch this game for an experiment. Do Castlevania, as well.

Oop, ...don't forget to try NETFitWii , too.

I'll post the progress posted, and share the outcomes.

Now, I learn that the Wii_jpn is not friendly when Bricked !
